About checking out elements

To modify files, including directories, under DevOps Code ClearCase® control, you must check them out. (Placing files and directories under source control is a separate procedure.) If you work in an environment with the base DevOps Code ClearCase integration with Rational® ClearQuest®, you may have to perform additional steps.
