It automates the processes of finding the versions that require a merge, starting a merge, and tracking the progress of a merge. It allows you to suspend and resume merges as needed.

      Use the ClearCase® View Configuration view to edit the version selection rules and load rules for a view.

        Use the Load Rules tab of the ClearCase® View Configuration tool to examine load rules for a ClearCase Web view, automatic view, or snapshot view and open the Edit Configuration dialog box, which allows you to edit the view's configuration.

View version selection rules

Use the Version Selection Rules tab of the ClearCase® View Configuration tool to see a view's version selection rules.

A view's version-selection rules determine which versions of elements in a load rule scope are selected for loading into a ClearCase® view. If you are familiar with ClearCase® config spec syntax, you can modify these rules or create new ones using the Edit Configuration dialog box. You can also copy version-selection rules from another view using the Edit Configuration dialog box.

Note: In a UCM ClearCase® view, this tab shows only the custom element rules for the view, and is named Custom Element Rules. You cannot edit any other parts of a UCM view's version selection rules.

Icons on the toolbar

The following icons on the ClearCase® View Configuration toolbar are available when you select the Version Selection Rules tab:

	Edit Configuration. Click this icon to open the Edit Configuration dialog box.
	Display Selected View's Configuration. Click to open the Show View Configuration dialog box and select a view to display its configuration in the Version Selection Rules tab.
