ClearCase® for Microsoft Visual Studio installation planning
ClearCase® for Visual Studio can be deployed with the ClearCase for Windows client or with the ClearTeam Explorer. After deployment, DevOps Code ClearCase for Visual Studio provides an interface to complete DevOps Code ClearCase operations from the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE.

ClearCase® for Microsoft Visual Studio installation planning

ClearCase® for Visual Studio can be deployed with the ClearCase® for Windows client or with the ClearTeam Explorer. After deployment, DevOps Code ClearCase® for Visual Studio provides an interface to complete DevOps Code ClearCase® operations from the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE.

When you install and configure ClearCase® for Visual Studio on a system where Microsoft Visual Studio is available, users can complete ClearCase® operations such as file checkin and checkout, version compare, and view updates from the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE. DevOps Code ClearCase® for Visual Studio is provided in two formats:

ClearCase® for Visual Studio
- Installed and updated by using Installation Manager.
- Installed as part of the DevOps Code ClearCase® for Windows client installation.
- Installed on a system with DevOps Code ClearCase®.
ClearTeam Explorer for Visual Studio
- Installed and updated by using Installation Manager.
- Installed as part of the ClearCase® Remote Client installation.
- Installed separately on client systems without DevOps Code ClearCase®, for ClearCase® Remote Client use.

Note: If Microsoft Visual Studio is upgraded or reinstalled, the ClearCase® for Visual Studio integration must be installed again.

Prerequisites

For information about the versions of Microsoft Visual Studio that are supported by ClearCase® for Visual Studio, run the Prerequisites of a specific product report from the Software Product Compatibility Reports web site.
