Updating the WebSphere Commerce XML configuration files

Use the configMigration utility to update XML configuration files that were migrated from version 7.0 to version 8.0. The utility upgrades the configuration files while preserving your customizations.

Before you begin

  1. If you customized any of the following files in version 7.0, copy the customized file to your version 8.0 development environment.
    • WCDE_installdir/wc.modules/workspace/WC/.settings/org.eclipse.wst.common.component
      Note: This path refers to the whole directory.
    • WCDE_installdir/wc.modules/workspace/WC/META-INF/ibmconfig/cells/defaultCell/applications/defaultApp/deployments/defaultApp/resources.xml
    • workspace_dir/Stores/WebContent/WEB-INF/web.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/.settings/org.eclipse.wst.common.component
    • workspace_dir/WC/META-INF/ibmconfig/cells/defaultCell/applications/defaultApp/deployments/defaultApp/resources.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/bi/biConfig.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/BusinessAuditDataCapture.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/businessContext.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/com.ibm.commerce.component_name-ext/*

      Where component_name is the name of the component you customized, for example, catalog or member.

    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/com.ibm.commerce.order/wc-admin-component.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/payments/edp/groups/default/PaymentMappings.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/payments/edp/groups/default/PaymentMethodConfigurations.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/payments/ppc/plugins/PaymentSystemPluginMapping.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/payments/ppc/plugins/SimpleOffline/SimpleOfflinePlugin.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/wc-attribute-masking.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/wc-post-publish.xml
    • workspace_dir/WC/xml/config/wc-server.xml
      Note: The wc-sevrer.xml file should exist on your version 8.0 development environment because it was needed to complete the database migration. If the file was removed, recopy the file to your version 8.0 development environment.
  2. Update your wc-server.xml file to contain the correct paths and host name for your version 8.0 development environment.

Procedure

  1. Log in to your WebSphere Commerce Developer Version 8.0 environment.
  2. Go to the WCDE_installdir\bin directory.
  3. Run the following command: 
    configMigration.bat
  4. Review the following log file after the utility completes:

    WCDE_installdir\logs\WCIM\configMigration.MM.dd.YYYY.mm.ss.log
