Testing Open object and Compare with approved content from change history

You can open change history records to see what changes were made to an object. Doing so lets you quickly determine whether or not you can approve a task group. If you are uncertain about what changes were made to an object, you can open the change history record for the object and compare it to the version of the object that was previously approved. This topic tests the opening of custom objects change history records, and also tests the comparison of custom objects with their approved content.

About this task

Note: You can open the object from its change history record if the action is modify.

Procedure

  1. To test the open recipe collection object from the change history record:
    1. Click the Create Recipe Collection task History tab.
    2. Double-click a non-delete record, such as Delicious Foods. The Delicious Foods collection is opened in read-only mode. The workspace identifier displays beside the object name to indicate that the content is from the workspace.


  2. To test the compare with approved content for recipe collection object:
    1. In the Create Recipe Collection task History tab, select a modify record. In this test, there is one modify record: Delicious Foods.
    2. Right-click and click Compare with approved content. Delicious Foods is opened in the Compare View. The left pane of the compare view shows the content from the workspace as the workspace identifier is appended besides the object name. The right pane shows the approved content as it stated clearly besides the object name. Make sure that both panes show the read-only mode as the purpose of it is not for editing the object.
    3. In the Compare View, you can easily identify that V2 is added to the description.

  3. To test the open recipe object from the History pane:
    1. In the Create Recipe Collection task History tab, double-click a non-delete record, such as HistoryRecipe1. The record opens in read-only mode. The workspace identifier is displayed beside the object name to indicate that the content is from the workspace


  4. To test the compare with approved content for recipe object:
    1. In the Create Recipe Collection task History pane, select a modify record. In this test, there is one modify record: Blueberry Muffins.
    2. Right-click and click Compare with approved content. The Blueberry Muffins record opens in the Compare View. The left pane of the compare view shows the content from the workspace with the workspace identifier appended besides the object name. The right pane displays that the approved content stated clearly besides the object name.
    3. Make sure that both panes show the read-only mode as the purpose of it is not for editing the object. From the Compare View, you can easily identify that V2 is added in the short description.
