Enabling location-based services
To use and develop location-based
services, and to use them in starter store enhancements, you must
first enable the location-based services feature.
Before you begin
Ensure that WebSphere Commerce Feature Pack 4 or later is installed.
- Review the prerequisite steps in Enabling features.



Ensure that your administrative
server is started. For example:- If WebSphere Commerce is managed by WebSphere Application Server
Deployment Manager (
dmgr), start the deployment manager and all node agents. Your cluster can also be started. - If WebSphere Commerce is not managed by
dmgr, start the WebSphere Application Server server1.
- If WebSphere Commerce is managed by WebSphere Application Server
Deployment Manager (


Ensure that you are logged on as
the WebSphere Commerce non-root user.
Ensure that you are logged on as a user that
has *SECOFR authority.
Ensure that the test server is stopped and
that Rational Application Developer is not running.- Determine how you are going to deploy the WebSphere Commerce search

What to do next
To work with
location-based services in smartphone and tablet starter stores, you
must complete the following tasks:
- Enabling starter store enhancements, to enable location-based services in starter stores.
- Publishing and deploying smart phone and tablet starter stores, to publish the mobile-specific SAR files.
- Sample: Loading point of interest (POI) data, to load sample points of interest into the database.
