Transferring installation files to a Linux system
Linux for zSeries: Before you can install WebSphere Commerce and its supporting software on a Linux partition on a zSeries machine, you must transfer the contents of the WebSphere Commerce DVD from a non-Windows workstation to the Linux for zSeries machine where you will install WebSphere Commerce and its supporting software.
The following
DVDs must be transferred:
- DB2 DVD
- WebSphere Application Server DVD
- WebSphere Commerce DVD
Procedure
To transfer the contents of a DVD to the WebSphere Commerce
machine:
- Complete the following tasks on a non-Windows workstation:
- Insert the DVD into the DVD-ROM drive and mount the DVD-ROM drive.
- Use a file compression utility or an archiving utility to package the entire contents of the DVD-ROM into a single file.
- Transfer the file from the workstation to the WebSphere Commerce machine using FTP or another transfer method.
- If the amount of hard disk space is limited on the workstation, delete the compressed file.
- Complete the following tasks on the WebSphere Commerce
machine:
- Log in as the root user.
- Create a temporary directory for each DVD. Record the directory names as they are required by the WebSphere Commerce installation wizard.
- Uncompress the file into its temporary directory. Continue the uncompress of each DVD ensuring that the correct directory is used.
- If the amount of hard disk space is limited, delete the compressed file.
