Notification Center
The Notification Center is a central place to view, filter, and manage the real-time notifications that BigFix UI raises about your work across the application. You open it from the bell icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Any operation that you perform in BigFix UI can raise a notification, so that you do not need to watch a module to know what happened. For example, you are notified when a report is ready to view, when a deployment finishes, or when a Protection Level Agreement (PLA) is created. Notifications come from across the application, including Analyses, Application Configuration, Applications Versions, Custom Remediation, CyberFOCUS, Deployment Manager, Device Explorer, Fixlet Streams, Identity and Access, My Dashboard, Patch, Reports, Site Management, Software Package, and System Configuration. For the full list in your environment, open the Select type list in the Notification Center.
A bell icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, next to the Help Center (?) icon and your profile icon, gives you access to these notifications from anywhere in the application. When you have unseen notifications, a badge on the bell shows how many there are.

To open the Notification Center, select the bell icon. The Notification Center slides out from the right side of the screen and lists your notifications, with the most recent at the top. After you open the Notification Center, the unseen badge on the bell clears. To close it, select the close (X) icon.

If you are signed in to BigFix UI in more than one browser session, a notification is delivered to all of your open sessions, so you see it wherever you are working.
Each notification appears as a card. A card shows a status icon for the notification's severity, the title, a short message, and the name of the module that raised it, such as BigFix Explore, Protection Level Agreement (PLA), Integrated Vulnerability Remediation, DEX, or Reporting. A card can include a link, such as View Report, below the message. A link can also sit inside the message text, for example Deployment name Cinzia_totale has been successfully completed or 234 Deployments are expired and not in use. In both cases, selecting the link opens the related item.
A long message is shortened with an ellipsis on the card. Open the linked item to read the full text.
The card shows how long ago the notification arrived as elapsed time in a compact format, such as 15s, 3 m, 22 m, 2h, or 22h. Older notifications show a date instead, such as 3 Feb. Unread notifications are marked with a blue dot.
The following examples show the kinds of notification that can appear, each with the module that raised it:
- Deployment successful. Confirms that a named deployment completed. Raised by BigFix Explore, with Success severity.
- Expired deployments. Reports deployments that are expired and no longer in use. Raised by BigFix Explore, with Info severity.
- PLA creation pending. Reports that a Protection Level Agreement could not be created. Raised by Protection Level Agreement (PLA), with Warning severity.
- Deployment is not completed. Reports a remediation deployment that did not finish. Raised by Integrated Vulnerability Remediation, with Warning severity.
- New security patches available. Reports critical updates that are ready to deploy. Raised by DEX, with Info severity.
- Baseline policy updated. Reports a published change to a security baseline. Raised by BigFix Explore, with Info severity.
- Multiple devices offline. Reports endpoints that have not checked in. Raised by Reporting, with Critical severity.
When no notifications match the current view, the Notification Center shows No notifications to show. When you have loaded everything available, the end of the list shows You've caught up on all notifications!.
A notification can also appear briefly as a pop-up message in the corner of the screen when it arrives. Every notification is also collected in the Notification Center, so you can review it there later even if you miss the pop-up.

From a generated report to the report itself
The following path shows how a notification takes you from an event to the item it concerns:
- User opens a report from the All Reports page.
- The badge on the bell icon increments as the notification arrives in real time.
- Select the bell icon to open the Notification Center.
- On the notification card, select View Report. The report opens.
A long-running report notifies you when processing finishes, so you do not need to wait on the page.
Notification severity
Each notification has a severity, shown by a colored status icon on the card, that indicates how much attention it needs. You can filter the list by severity using the chips at the top of the Notification Center.
The severity is not conveyed by color alone. Each status icon has a distinct shape and carries a text label that a screen reader announces as Critical, Warning, Success, or Info. The unread dot is announced as Unread.

| Severity | Description |
|---|---|
| Critical | Red icon. A problem that needs your immediate attention, such as a report that failed to generate or a deployment that did not complete. |
| Warning | Amber icon. A condition that might need your attention, such as deployments that are expired and no longer in use. |
| Success | Green check icon. Confirmation that an operation finished successfully, such as a report that is ready to view or a deployment that completed. |
| Info | Blue icon. General information, such as a new Protection Level Agreement being created. |
Read and unread notifications
BigFix UI marks a notification that you have not yet read with a blue dot. When you open the Notification Center, the unseen badge on the bell clears, but each notification keeps its dot until you read it. How a notification becomes read depends on its type:
- A notification that contains a link, such as View Report, becomes read when you select the link, which also opens the related item.
- A notification that has no link stays unread until you mark it read.
To act on a single notification, select the more-options (three-dot) menu on its card, and then select one of the following:
- Mark as read or Mark as unread to change whether the notification counts as read.
- Archive to move the notification out of the active list without
deleting it.

Filter notifications
You can narrow the list by module, by severity, and by keyword, and you can combine these filters.
To filter by the module that raised the notification:
- Select the Select type list.
- Select the checkbox for each module that you want to include, such as Analyses, CyberFOCUS, Deployment Manager, Device Explorer, Patch, or Reports. The list scrolls, so scroll down to see every module. To find a module quickly, enter its name in the Search box. To include every module, select Select all; to clear your choices, select Reset.
- Select Apply.
The Notification Center shows only notifications from the modules that you selected. Each selected type appears as a chip above the severity chips, for example Integrated Vulnerability Remediation (IVR) and CyberFOCUS. Select the X on a chip to remove that type from the filter. When you select several types, the row ends with a +N more indicator.

To filter by severity, select one or more of the Critical, Warning, Success, and Info chips at the top of the Notification Center. The list shows only notifications of the selected severities. Select a chip again to clear it.
To show only notifications that you have not yet read, turn on the Unread toggle.
Search notifications
To find a specific notification by keyword:
- Select the Search icon.
- In the Search box, enter a word or phrase from the notification title or message. The list updates to show only notifications that match.
- To close the search box, select the X.

Mark and archive all notifications
Use the more-options (three-dot) menu at the top of the Notification Center to act on all notifications at once. The menu provides two actions and a link to the archive:
- Mark all as read marks every notification in the list as read.
- Archive all moves every notification out of the active list. Archiving removes notifications from the Notification Center without deleting them.

The Notification Center lists 20 notifications at a time. If you have more, select Load more at the bottom to load the next 20.
View archived notifications
To review notifications that you archived earlier:
- Select the more-options (three-dot) menu.
- Select View archive.
BigFix UI opens the Notification archives page, which lists the notifications that you archived. You can filter the archive by module and severity and search it by keyword, the same way you work with the Notification Center. To go back, select Back to notifications.
The archives page also lists notifications in batches. Select Load more at the bottom to load the next batch.

To take a notification back out of the archive:
- Open the Notification archives page.
- On the notification card, select the more-options (three-dot) menu.
- Select Unarchive. The notification returns to the Notification Center.
The same menu also offers Mark as unread.
