Known limitations

This release of BigFix UI has architectural and operational limits that affect how you plan device exploration and remediation. Review these limitations before you deploy content from BigFix UI.

Correlation is not supported

This release of BigFix UI does not support device correlation. If your environment has correlated devices, you cannot install BigFix UI. The installation does not proceed on an environment where correlation is in place.

To use BigFix UI, remove correlation from your environment first. For more information about correlation, see Correlated devices.

Fixlets that require user input are not supported

You cannot deploy Fixlets and Tasks that ask for user-supplied values at deployment time from BigFix UI. This includes:

  • Fixlets that use the action parameter query ActionScript command.
  • Fixlets that collect input through HTML forms or JavaScript in the Fixlet description.

Console-only Fixlets

You can deploy some Fixlets only from the BigFix Console. You cannot deploy them from BigFix UI, BigFix WebUI, or the BigFix REST API.

Note:
BigFix UI does not identify these Fixlets, so it does not prevent you from deploying them. If you deploy one of these Fixlets from BigFix UI, the action ends in error. Before you deploy a Fixlet, make sure that it does not require user input.

For more information, see Deploying Fixlets.

Stopping other operators' deployments is not supported

BigFix UI does not support the Stop Other Operators' Actions permission. A non-master operator can stop only the open deployments that they issued, even if their role grants this permission. To stop a deployment that another operator issued, use the BigFix Console.

For more information, see Deployments.

Bulk tag assignment does not suggest partially applied tags

When you tag more than one object at once, the Manage tags drawer shows only the tags that every selected object already has. Tags that only some of the selected objects have do not appear in the drawer or in the suggestion list. You can still create new tags and assign them to all the selected objects. To give the other objects a tag that only some of them have, tag each of those objects on its own.

For more information, see Managing Tags.

Filtering on computer properties that belong to a category is not supported

BigFix UI does not support filtering devices on computer properties that are assigned to a category. This applies to custom properties and to analysis properties, such as Actionsite Size in BES Health Checks Analysis. If you filter on one of these properties, the results might be incorrect or empty.

For more information, see Devices.

Device groups: Server-based groups and client-evaluated manual groups are not supported

BigFix UI does not support server-based groups or manual groups whose membership is determined by client settings (client-evaluated manual groups). These groups are not available in BigFix UI. Use the BigFix Console to view and manage them.

For more information, see Device Groups.
