About Explorer tool shortcuts
HCL VersionVault Windows Explorer supports defining tool shortcuts and URL shortcuts, exporting those shortcut definitions to an external file, and importing those definitions so that they can be shared among VersionVault Windows Explorer users. (View shortcuts cannot be exported or imported). The shortcuts have the following different classes:
- System shortcuts point to executable files supplied with HCL VersionVault and are built in to VersionVault Windows Explorer.
- Site shortcuts point to executable files and URLs defined by a system administrator and stored in a publicly accessible location to be shared by groups of users. Site shortcuts can occlude system shortcuts.
- User shortcuts point to executable files and URLs that you define and save for your personal use. User shortcuts can occlude site shortcuts and system shortcuts.
If a user tool shortcut has the same name as a system or site shortcut, it can redefine or occlude the other definition. Likewise a site shortcut with the same name as a system shortcut can redefine or occlude the system shortcut.
The location for the site shortcuts is specified during HCL VersionVault site preparation. The location for the definition file is stored in the Windows registry on each HCL VersionVault client machine.
If you are an HCL VersionVault administrator, you can export your tool shortcuts to a site tool shortcut definitions file in an accessible location to enable other users to share the definitions.
In the Tool Shortcut Options window, you choose whether to import shortcut definitions each time VersionVault Windows Explorer starts up. If you choose to import tool shortcuts, either select the file containing site tool shortcut definitions that the HCL VersionVault administrator set up or specify a location of another file.
VersionVault Windows Explorer allows you to reset system tool shortcuts.
