Compare Baselines view

You can use the Compare Baselines view to:

• Compare two baselines
• Compare two streams
• Compare a baseline to a stream

To access the Compare Baselines view, take either of the following actions:

• In the VersionVault Navigator, select two baselines, or two streams, or a baseline and a stream, then right-click and select from the Compare options in the context menu
• Right-click a baseline or stream in the VersionVault Navigator and select from the Compare options in the context menu

The Compare Baselines view is a multi-instance view. You can pin a particular instance of the view and then succeeding compare operations will open separate instances of the view, so that you can see the results of multiple compare operations.

Controls in the view

The following controls appear in the view:

Control name	Control description
First resource selector	Text field showing the first resource to be compared. You can specify a different baseline or stream by entering a stream or baseline selector in this field of the following form: [baseline|stream]:name@/vob
Browse	Click to browse to select the first resource to be compared.
	Click the Restart Compare icon to perform the compare operation using the currently selected baselines or streams.
	Click the Show Last Compare icon to show the previous compare operation.
First resource table	Table showing the first resource being compared. If the Activities tab is selected, the table contains the Activities, Created, Owner, and Stream columns. If the Versions tab is selected, the table contains the Name, Version, Created, Creator, and Activity columns.
Second Baseline/Stream selector	Text field showing the second resource to be compared. You can specify a different baseline or stream by entering a stream or baseline selector in this field of the following form: [baseline|stream]:name@/vob
Browse	Click to browse to select the second resource to be compared.
	Click the Restart Compare icon to perform the compare operation using the currently selected baselines or streams.
	Click the Show Last Compare icon to show the previous compare operation.
Second resource table	Table showing the second resource being compared. If the Activities tab is selected, the table contains the Activities, Created, Owner, and Stream columns. If the Versions tab is selected, the table contains the Name, Version, Created, Creator, and Activity columns.
Activities	This tab lists activities that are associated with one baseline but not the other. You can expand an activity and see the versions from that activity that are in one baseline but not the other. You can also filter the display of the activities by clicking the icons on the view toolbar. You can perform standard operations on activities and versions on the Activities tab by right-clicking the activity or version and selecting operations from a context menu. In addition, you can select two or more versions of the same element in the resource tables on the Activities tab and compare them by choosing Compare Selected Versions from the context menu.
Versions	This tab lists versions that are present in one baseline but not the other. The versions are sorted first by element pathname and then by version number (most recent to oldest). You can change the sort order by clicking on the top of any column. You can perform standard operations to versions on the Versions tab by right-clicking the version and selecting operations from a context menu. In addition, you can select one or more versions and choose the Show in Activity option from the context menu, which opens the Activities tab and finds the selected versions under the corresponding activities.

Note: You can also use the Show Only Latest Versions option to filter the display to include only the latest versions of each element on each stream. To select this option, click the view menu icon on the Compare Baselines view toolbar and select Show Only Latest Versions.

The VersionVault Compare Baselines view toolbar contains the following icons:

Show integration activities only		Click to display deliver and rebase activities while suppressing contributing activities.
Show contributing activities only		Click to display contributing activities while suppressing deliver and rebase activities.
Show both integration and contributing activities		Click to show all activities.
