Planning the Interact upgrade

Upgrade your installation of Interact after understanding the guidelines that are specific to your current version of Interact.

Use the following guidelines for upgrading Interact:

NOTE :A new approach for upgrading has been introduced.Please refer to the Interact Fast upgrade guide.

Table 1. Upgrade scenarios for Interact

This two-columned table provides information about the source version of Interact in one column, and about the upgrade path in the second column.
Source version Upgrade path

Any 7.x or pre-8.6.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Interact version 11.0.1:
  1. Upgrade from your earlier version to version 8.6.x.
  2. Upgrade your 8.6.x version to version 10.1 by following the instructions in the HCL Interact 10.1 Upgrade Guide.
  3. Upgrade your 10.1 version to 11.0.1.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 11.0.1 over your old version.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the HCL® Marketing Software Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.

Any 8.6.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Interact version 11.0.1:
  1. Upgrade your 8.6.x version to version 10.1 by following the instructions in the HCL Interact 10.1 Upgrade Guide.
  2. Upgrade your 10.1 version to 11.0.1.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 11.0.1 over your old version.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the HCL Marketing Software Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.

Any 9.x.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Interact version 11.0.1:
  1. Upgrade your 9.x.x version to version 10.1 by following the instructions in the HCL Interact 10.1 Upgrade Guide.
  2. Upgrade your 10.1 version to 11.0.1

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 11.0.1 over your old version.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the HCL Marketing Software Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
Any 10.0.0.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Interact version 11.0.1:

  1. Perform an upgarde to 10.1 over your old version.by following the instructions in the HCL Interact 10.1 Upgrade Guide

    Perfrom an in-place upgrade from 10.1 to 11.0.1 by following the upgrade guide.

    Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

    Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
  2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
  3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the HCL Marketing Software Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.

Any 10.1.x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade to Interact version 11.0.1:

  1. Perform an in-place installation of version 11.0.1 over your old version.

    Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

    Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
  2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
  3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the HCL Marketing Software Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
