Installation

You must run the Unica installer to start the installation of Detect. The Unica installer starts the product installer during the installation process. Make sure that the Unica installer and the product installer are saved at the same location.

Each time that you run the Unica suite installer, you must first enter database connection information for the Platform system tables. When the installer starts, you must enter the required information for Detect.
Note:
  • The Unica installer requires information about Platform.
  • After completing installation, you can create an EAR file for your product, and you can install the reports package for your product. Creating the EAR file and installing the reports package are not mandatory actions.
Note: To launch the installers on Windows 2019 and Windows 2022, server please set parameter - SET JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS="-Dos.name=Windows 7" - on command prompt and then launch the Installers from the same command prompt.
Important: Before you install Detect, make sure that the available temporary space on the computer where you install Detect is more than three times the size of the Detect installer.

Installation Files

The installation files are named according to the version of the product and the operating system on which they must be installed, except Linux. For Linux, different installation files exist for the X Window System mode and the console mode.

The following table displays examples of the installation files that are named according to the product version and the operating system:
Table 1. Installation files

This two-columned table provides the name of the operating systems in one column, and the name of the installation files for the operating system in the second column.

Operating system Installation file
Windows: GUI mode

HCL_Detect_x.x.x.x_win.exe, where Product is the name of your product, x.x.x.x is the version number of your product, and Windows 64-bit is the operating system on which the file must be installed.

Linux: X Window System mode

HCL_Detect_x.x.x.x_linux.bin, where Product is the name of your product, and x.x.x.x is the version number of your product.

Linux: Console mode HCL_Detect_x.x.x.x_linux.bin, where Product is the name of your product, and x.x.x.x is the version number of your product. This file can be used for installation on all Linux operating systems.

Console-Mode Installation Workflow

For Linux console-mode deployments, first install Unica Platform components and then install Detect by using the installer prompts.

The supported workflow for this guide uses Apache Tomcat, MariaDB, and JDK17. The workflow includes response file configuration, application server and database connection setup, license acceptance, and confirmation of the pre-installation summary before extraction and deployment.

For Detect, provide required database details and network values such as host name, domain, and application port when prompted by the installer. If datasource creation is selected, the installer writes detect.xml to <Tomcat_Home>/conf/Catalina/localhost.
