Windows tablet limitations and restrictions

This topic describes known Windows RT and Windows Pro device restrictions and limitations with IBM Traveler.

General device issues

Table 1. General device issues
Problem Details
Device syncs all data if the server changes the version of ActiveSync currently being used. If the IBM Traveler server changes the ActiveSync version, Windows RT and Pro tablets will initiate a resync of all data. In IBM Traveler 9.0.0.1, the ActiveSync version has changed, therefore this problem may be seen after upgrading to 9.0.0.1. In addition, if a user is viewing the mail app during the upgrade, he or she may see the mail disappear and not refresh until after the restart of the mail application.

Mail

No ability to send mail to non-internet addresses, such as Domino® addresses.

IBM Traveler for Windows RT devices does not support sending mail to non-internet addresses, such as Domino® addresses. name@domain.com is valid, while name@domain is not. The address field must have at least one period in the domain name.

Mail addresses present in the body of received messages are not recognized.

Mail addresses in a message on a Windows RT device are neither highlighted nor clickable.

Document link icons are missing.

When a doc link is included in a mail message, the associated icon will not be present, and a missing image icon will show instead.

The response state of a mail message in the Notes® client is not updated when a message is replied to or forwarded from a Windows RT device.

The Windows RT client does not include a message identifier which is normally used to update the message response state. Therefore, the icons which are visible in the Notes® or iNotes® clients to indicate if the message has been replied to or forwarded are not updated when using a Windows RT device.

Domino® event types display as the same color on the device, and there is no color delineation between different event types.

All Domino® event types created from the server show up as the same color on the device, and there will be no color delineation between different event types.

No ability to create Domino® anniversaries or meeting event types.

Out of office

Table 4. Out of office issues
Problem Details

The returning date in IBM Notes/iNotes is in the year 2050.

IBM Traveler uses 12/30/2050 as the theoretical end date for an indefinite out of office period. Out of office enabled on Windows Tablet devices will always be indefinite.

The out of office reply mail contains some text in the wrong language, or dates in the wrong format.

Windows Tablets do not include the locale in requests to IBM Traveler, so the default locale will be used to translate and format parts of the out of office reply mail.

Security

Table 5. Security issues
Problem Details

Device Wipe is not supported.

Windows tablet devices only allow an Application Wipe.

Autolock timeout period can not be changed to a higher value even after policy change.

Users cannot change the timeout period on the device.

When password requirement is turned on, the minimum requirement enforced by Windows RT is a length of 8 and a complexity of 3.

Your password length has to be a minimum of 8 characters, and it should include 3 of the 4 complexity groups: Capital letters, smaller case letters, numbers, and special characters.

Password length requirement cannot be greater than six characters.

Setting the password requirement to a value greater than six characters will cause the device to stop syncing.
