Configuring a redundant RNC with remotely controlled A/B switches
On Motorola PMR networks you can configure a remotely controlled A/B switch to instruct the radio network controller (RNC) to send traffic to a specific Motorola private mobile radio (PMR) base station. You can configure mobile access services to send alert messages to a remotely controlled A/B switch attached to a redundant RNC 3000. You can define up to four switches.

Procedure
- To configure an rnc3000 MNC with a redundant
RNC and a
remotely controlled A/B switch:
- Make sure that the rnc3000 MNC is added to the Connection Manager.
- Edit the properties of the rnc3000 MNC. For more information about editing properties, see Editing resource properties.
- Click the Line Driver page. Review the values of the IP address of RNC, TCP read port, and TCP write port that were assigned when the MNC was added.
- Click Modify redundant RNC configuration and enter the IP address of redundant RNC.
- Click Control A/B switch and enter the IP address of remote A/B switch.
- Enter the management information base (MIB) file used by the SafeLinx Server that describes the remote A/B switch.
- Enter the IP address of remote A/B switch and the IP addresses of up to three additional switches.
- Click the Remote A/B switch port mapping field to identify whether the port mapping labeled A on the remotely controlled A/B switch is connected to the primary or redundant RNC.
- Whenever the primary and redundant RNCs are toggled, the mobile access services sends an alert to the A/B switch that specifies which RNC is active.
