Using Nomad for web browsers
The following topics provide instructions on how to configure and use the browser for HCL Nomad for web browsers.
COM Helper
In order to have HCL Nomad for web browsers successfully process Component Object Model (COM) calls from agents and buttons, the Windows client machine needs to have HCL Nomad for web browsers COM Helper installed. COM is a Windows only feature, so the COM Helper only applies to web browsers running on a Windows machine.

The OPFS is contained within the browser’s sandbox for the site and is not accessible from other sites nor the native operating system. Because the OPFS is in the browser storage, clearing the browser storage also clears the file system.

Install and Uninstall

Follow these instructions to install and uninstall Nomad for web browsers COM Helper.

Install instructions

Obtain the NomadCOM.MSI file from the latest Nomad directory of My HCL Software .
Save the NomadCOM.MSI file to a local folder, for example to your C:\temp folder.
Navigate to the folder in which you saved the NomadCOM.MSI file.
Locate and run the NomadCOM.MSI installation file.
Read the Welcome screen and click Next.
Read and accept the license agreement terms and click Next.
Accept the default install directory or specify a different installation directory and click Next.
Enter the base URL without http for your Nomad server and click Next. For example,
- If your Nomad server is https://mynomadserver.mycompany.com/nomad/#, enter mynomadserver.mycompany.com.
- If your Nomad server is https://mynomadserver.mycompany.com:8043/nomad/#, enter mynomadserver.mycompany.com:8043.
On next screen, click Next to install.
Select Yes on any prompts to allow install.
Close the installer when complete.
Must restart the browser (chrome), if running.
You can now launch Nomad in your browser to use COM based Notes Applications.

Uninstall instructions

To uninstall, go into Windows Control panel Add/Remove programs, find and double-click on entry "HCL Nomad for web browsers COM helper", and click on uninstall.
