Using IBM iNotes Control
The IBM iNotes Control (also known as ActiveX) enables users of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Window Explorer to make the web client the default email client, send email from external Web pages and Microsoft Office applications, email files stored on their workstation using the web client, and paste images into emails.
Before you begin
Note: If you are using Internet Explorer in protected mode,
the following features are not available:
- Setting the default mail client; and
- Saving or dragging attachments to most common locations on workstation.

Procedure
- When you log in to the web client, you are prompted to choose if you want to use the IBM iNotes Control. Click OK.
- From the drop-down menu in the SmartCloud banner, select Install this Add-on.
- In the Internet Explorer Add-On Installer dialog box, click Install.
- In the toolbar in the left-hand navigation pane, click to open your preferences.
- At the bottom of the Preferences Basics page, under Default Mail Client, click Make Default to make SmartCloud Notes web your default email client.
Results
You can now do any of the following actions.

Send a file from Windows Explorer or desktop | Right-click on the file in Windows Explorer
or desktop and in the drop-down menu, select Send to > Mail
recipient. The web client launches the email form with
the attachment in place. Note: If you are not
logged into SmartCloud Notes web, you will be prompted to log in,
and then you will see the email. |
Send email from the Start menu | Click Start > Run.
In the Run dialog box, type mailto: <Internet
address>. The web client launches the email. Note: If you are not logged into SmartCloud Notes web,
you will be prompted to log in, and then you will see the email. |
