Managing HCL Local License Server
After you receive your license entitlements, you must verify the system requirements, perform preinstallation tasks, and then install the HCL Local License Server (LLS) product.
Preinstallation tasks
Before you install HCL Local License Server (LLS), you must perform some necessary tasks to prepare your system and environment.
Downloading the Installer Package
You must download the LLS installer package into your host machine to manage your licenses for HCL products.

You must license your HCLSoftware product to get access to a full-featured version of your HCLSoftware product for an extended duration and HCLSoftware support.
Managing HCL Local License Server

  Before you install HCL Local License Server, ensure that your system meets the hardware and software requirements.

  - Downloading the Installer Package
    You must download the LLS installer package into your host machine to manage your licenses for HCL products.
  - TLS Security Configuration
    HCL Local License Server (LLS) supports secure SSL communication over TLS 1.3 protocol and provides backward compatibility for TLS 1.2 protocol. Making changes to the TLS Security Configuration is optional and can be done either before or after LLS is installed. Default configuration uses TLS 1.3 for enhanced security. FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) validation is recommended when generating or using certificates to avoid connectivity issues between LLS and clients.
  - Generating a self-signed TLS certificate
    Third-party CA-signed certificates can be used to install HCL Local License Server (LLS) on your host machine.However, you can also use the LLS package utility to generate a self-signed TLS certificate.
- Installing HCL Local License Server
  After completing the pre-installation tasks, you can begin installing HCL Local License Server (LLS) 5.3 as a new installation or use the new upgrade feature to update an existing LLS version (5.0, 5.1, or 5.2) to 5.3. Once installed, you can use it to manage HCLSoftware product licenses.

  After installing the HCL Local License Server (LLS), you must create deployments in My HCLSoftware (MHS) to manage your entitlements. Each deployment generates a license file that must be copied to the license folder on your LLS host machine.

  After you have installed HCL Local License Server (LLS), you must verify that the installation completed successfully and that the server is reachable and operational.

  You can configure HCL Local License Server (LLS)to update parameters such as the TLS certificate or the port number using the update utility provided in the installer package.
- Uninstalling HCL Local License Server
  When you no longer require HCL Local License Server (LLS), on your system, you can remove it by running the uninstall utility included in the installation package.

  You can troubleshoot some common issues that you might encounter during the installation or operation of HCL Local License Server (LLS).
Managing HCL Cloud License Server
After you receive your license entitlements, you can set up HCL Cloud License Server (CLS) for your HCLSoftware product license configuration.

Downloading the Installer Package

You must download the LLS installer package into your host machine to manage your licenses for HCL products.

Procedure

Log in to My HCLSoftware (MHS).
From the Downloads tab, click the HCLSoftware tile and then the License Server tile.

All available HCL Local License Server releases are displayed.
Select the appropriate release of the product.
The available installer packages are listed for download.
- For Windows, download HCL Local License Server 5.3 Windows.zip.
- For Linux, download HCL Local License Server 5.3 Linux.tar.gz.
Click the Download button from the Actions menu to save the installer package to your host machine.
After download, verify the integrity of the package using the checksum, if available, to ensure the file is not corrupted.

Note:

The downloaded package now includes the tlsutil utility program, which allows you to generate a self-signed TLS certificate directly. No separate OpenSSL installation is needed.
