Post-installation : Generating the License File

After installing the HCL Local License Server (LLS), you must create deployments in My HCLSoftware (MHS) to manage your entitlements. Each deployment generates a license file that must be copied to the license folder on your LLS host machine.

Procedure

Create a Deployment and Allocate Licenses
1. Log in to My HCLSoftware MHS.
2. Go to the Deployments page.
  
  On your first login, the page is empty and displays only the Add Deployment card.
3. Click Add Deployment to create a new deployment.
4. Provide the following details:
  - Deployment Name: Type a meaningful name for your deployment.
  - Deployment Type: Select the deployment type.
  - Fingerprint: add fingerprint generated during installation.
    
    Use the fingerprint generated during installation — it is displayed in the console and saved in installer.txt. Ensure you copy the full fingerprint string with the prefix v3.lls, for example:

```
  - Click Add Deployment.
    - A list of all your purchased license entitlements is displayed.
    - Allocate Licenses:
      
      Enter the number of licenses you want to assign to the new deployment.
      
      The availability count will automatically update when you modify license allocation.
    - Click Save when done.
      
      A new card for your deployment appears on the Deployments page.
1. Click on the options button of the deployment you created in the previous step.
2. Select Activate License Server.
3. The Activate License Server window appears.
  - Choose Local as the License Server Type to set up LLS.
  - Click Activate License Server.
  - Enter the fingerprint (copied earlier with prefix v3.lls).
  - Click Save and Download to generate and download the license file.
  - Copy the downloaded license file to the license directory of the LLS installation path.
  License folder location: <lls_install_directory>/license
  
  Note:
  <lls_install_directory> refers to the directory specified during installation.
  
  Important:
  You can create multiple deployments in My HCLSoftware (MHS) for the same product and use the generated license files with a single HCL Local License Server (LLS) installation, as long as your entitlement allows it. No Specific limit of deployment is set.

Results

You have successfully generated a license file and downloaded it to your LLS server.

Copy the license file to the LLS license folder: <lls_install_directory>/license
LLS will automatically detect and apply the license without requiring a restart.
