Managing HCL Local License Server
After you receive your license entitlements, you must verify the system requirements, perform preinstallation tasks, and then install the HCL Local License Server (LLS) product.

HCL Licensing - Overview
You must license your HCLSoftware product to get access to a full-featured version of your HCLSoftware product for an extended duration and HCLSoftware support.

  Before you install HCL Local License Server (LLS), you must perform some necessary tasks to prepare your system and environment.
- Installing HCL Local License Server
  After completing the pre-installation tasks, you can begin installing HCL Local License Server (LLS) 5.3 as a new installation or use the new upgrade feature to update an existing LLS version (5.0, 5.1, or 5.2) to 5.3. Once installed, you can use it to manage HCLSoftware product licenses.

  After installing the HCL Local License Server (LLS), you must create deployments in My HCLSoftware (MHS) to manage your entitlements. Each deployment generates a license file that must be copied to the license folder on your LLS host machine.

  After you have installed HCL Local License Server (LLS), you must verify that the installation completed successfully and that the server is reachable and operational.

  You can configure HCL Local License Server (LLS)to update parameters such as the TLS certificate or the port number using the update utility provided in the installer package.

System requirements

Before you install HCL Local License Server, ensure that your system meets the hardware and software requirements.

Hardware Requirements


Hardware	Minimum requirement
Disk space	256 GB
RAM	8 GB
Processor	2 GHz - 2 Cores

Note:

The LLS 5.3 installation does not mandate 256 GB of free disk space and can operate with substantially less available storage. However, allocating higher disk capacity is recommended to support log rotation and to ensure sufficient space for long-term log retention.

Software Requirements

The LLS package now includes the tlsutil.exe utility, which can be used to generate the self-signed TLS certificate. OpenSSL installation is no longer required.

From LLS 5.3 onwards, OpenSSL installation is no longer mandatory.
A new utility program tlsutil is included in the LLS package to generate the self-signed TLS certificate.
You can still use OpenSSL (version 3.x or later) if your organization prefers third-party certificate generation.

Note:

HCL Local License Server (LLS) v5.3 operates independently without any external OpenSSL dependencies. However, you may maintain or install OpenSSL 3.x or later on the host machine if required for your organization's internal security compliance or for generating custom certificates outside of the LLS environment.
