System Requirements

Before you install HCL Local License Server, ensure that your system meets the hardware and software requirements.

Hardware Requirements

Hardware Minimum requirement
Disk space 256 GB
RAM 8 GB
Processor 2 GHz - 2 Cores
Note:
The HCL Local License Server 5.3 installation does not require 256 GB of free disk space and can operate with substantially less available storage. However, allocating higher disk capacity is recommended to support log rotation and to ensure sufficient space for long-term log retention.

Software Requirements

From 5.3 onwards, HCL Local License Server does not require any additional software to be installed beforehand.

The installer package includes tlsutil, which removes the earlier OpenSSL requirement:

  • The utility.bat/sh file generates the certificate and key with the support of tlsutil. See Generating a self-signed TLS certificate.
  • The install.bat/sh and update.bat/sh files decrypt the TLS private key with the support of tlsutil if an encrypted key is supplied.
Note:

If your organization prefers a certificate signed by a trusted Certificate Authority (CA), you can use one instead of a self-signed certificate. For third-party certificates, contact your local IT team. OpenSSL 3.x or later can still be installed for other purposes, but it is not a prerequisite for HCL Local License Server.
