Configuring HCL Local License Server

You can configure HCL Local License Server (LLS) to edit the TLS certificate, and port by using the update program.

About this task

Configuration of LLS is optional and you must configure only when you need to modify the TLS certificate or LLS port.

Procedure

  1. Go to the installation directory where the update program is located.
  2. From the command-line, run the update program:
    • On Windows, run the update.bat file as an administrator.
    • On Linux, enter the following commands with root privileges:
      chmod +x update.sh
      ./update.sh
  3. Specify any of the following information as the upgrade program prompts you:
    Please choose what you want to do: 1. Generate TLS Certificate 2. Enter the port 3. Generate Both 4. Quit
    Press 1 to update the TLS certificate information. Provide the path to a new valid self-signed or a third-party signed TLS certificate.
    The system copies all new certificates to the installed location.
    Please choose what you want to do: 1. Generate TLS Certificate 2. Enter the port 3. Generate Both 4. Quit
    Press 2 to update the port number. You get the following warning message when the port number is updated:
    Warning: Changing the port will invalidate all existing license files.
    Please regenerate the fingerprint for the new port and obtain a corresponding license file before proceeding with the update.
    Note: You must perform port number update during a downtime as it might affect license checkout as you are replacing the license files.
  4. Press 4 to update and quit the process.

    The system updates the information and restarts the existing LLS service.

    A confirmation message is displayed.
    Service started successfully.
  5. Press any key to exit.

Results

You have configured LLS with the new updates.
