Creating Application Code probes

You can create an application code probe to monitor agent schedules and the resources that agents use.

Procedure

  1. From the Domino® Administrator, click the Files tab.
  2. Open the Monitoring Configuration database (EVENTS4.NSF).

    Field

    Action

    Probe Subtype

    Choose one:

    • Agents behind schedule
    • Agents ranked by CPU usage
    • Agents ranked by memory usage
    • Long running agents

    Probe Description

Type a short description of the probe.

Which servers should run this probe?

    Choose one:

    • All servers in the domain -- The probe monitors all servers in the domain.
    • Special target servers -- Specify the type of servers that will run the probe, such as POP3 servers or the administration server for the Domino® Directory.
    • Only the following servers -- Specify the servers on which the probe will run.

    Which process should be probed?

    Choose one:

    • Agent Manager -- Monitors scheduled agents that the Agent Manager runs.
    • HTTP -- Monitors agents that are invoked from a Web browser.

If Memory utilization is greater than

    Enable or disable event generators.

Select a value from the list If Memory utilization is greater than to generate an event of the corresponding severity when memory utilization falls within the stated range. The values and corresponding events are shown in the table following this procedure.

    Ranking by CPU seconds used

Enable or disable event generators. Enter the number of seconds that a CPU can be used, prior to generating an event of the corresponding severity. When the CPU usage falls within the stated range, an event is generated.

If agent is running behind schedule by more than

Enable or disable event generators. Enter the number of minutes defining how long an agent may run behind schedule prior to generating an event of the corresponding severity. When the agent runs behind schedule for a period of time within the stated range, an event is generated.

If an agent has been running for more than

    Enable or disable event generators.

Enter the number of minutes that an agent runs before it generates an event of the corresponding severity.
