    - Properties and methods with ECL security using Java™
      The following tables list the properties and methods affected by an execute control list (ECL). These properties cannot be accessed or set, and these methods do not execute on the workstation unless the marked ECL priveleges are granted to the signer of the formula.

    - Form (Java™)
      Represents a form in a database.
    - IDVault (Java™)
      The IDVault class is a representation of the secure storage facility for UserIDs that may be configured for Domino by policy. IDs are stored there to allow for easier management by administrators and users. IDs from more than one server may be stored within an IDVault. The IDVault class provides methods to access UserID files, UserID objects, query the presence of an ID in the vault, sycnronise copies of IDs, and reset passwords. The IDVault class can be used to access UserID objects or files. These can be used to accomplish the encryption or decryption of Documents while running on the server.
    - International (Java™)
      Represents the international settings in the operating environment, for example, the Regional Settings in the Windows™ Control Panel. When settings change in the operating environment, Notes® recognizes the new settings immediately. For remote (IIOP) operations, these settings represent the session's server.
    - Item (Java™)
      Represents a discrete value or set of values in a document.
      - Examples: Item class
        This agent creates a document with items of various types.
      - DateTimeValue (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. For a date-time item, returns a DateTime object representing the value of the item. For items of other types, returns null.
      - IsAuthors (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. Indicates whether an item is of type Authors.
      - IsEncrypted (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. Indicates whether an item is encrypted.
      - IsNames (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. Indicates whether an item is a Names item.
      - IsProtected (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. Indicates whether a user needs at least Editor access to modify an item.
      - IsReaders (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. Indicates whether an item is of type Readers.
      - IsSaveToDisk (Item class - Java™)
        Read-Write. Indicates whether an item is saved when the document is saved.
      - IsSigned (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. Indicates whether an item contains a signature the next time the document is signed.
      - IsSummary (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. Indicates whether an item contains summary or non-summary data.
      - LastModified (Item - Java™)
        Read-only. The date/time that an item was last modified.
      - Name (Item - Java™)
        Read-only. The name of an item.
      - Parent (Item - Java™)
        Read-only. The document that contains an item.
      - Text (Item - Java™)
        Read-only. A plain text representation of an item's value.
      - Type (Item - Java™)
        Read-only. The data type of an item.
      - ValueDouble (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. The value of an item with a single numeric value.
      - ValueInteger (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. The value of an item with a single numeric value.
      - ValueLength (Item - Java™)
        Read-only. The bytes of internal storage, including overhead, required to store an item.

        Read-Write. The value of an item.
      - ValueString (Item - Java™)
        Read-Write. The value that an item holds.
      - abstractText (Item - Java™)
        Abbreviates the contents of a text item.
        Examples: abstractText method
        This agent generates an abstract of an item.
      - appendToTextList (Item - Java™)
        For an item that's a text list, adds a new value to the item without erasing any existing values.
      - containsValue (Item - Java™)
        Checks whether a value matches at least one of an item's values.
      - copyItemToDocument (Item - Java™)
        Copies an item to a specified document.
      - getMIMEEntity (Item - Java™)
        Returns the MIMEEntity that this item represents, typically a ""Body" Item of a mailed Internet document of RFC822 and subsequent MIME RFCXXX formats.
      - getValueCustomData (Item - Java™)
        Returns as an object the value of an item containing custom data.
      - getValueCustomDataBytes (Item - Java™)
        Returns as a byte array the value of an item containing custom data.
      - getValueDateTimeArray (Item - Java™)
      - remove (Item - Java™)
        Permanently deletes an item from a document.
      - setValueCustomData (Item - Java™)
        Sets the value of an item to custom data from an object.
      - setValueCustomDataBytes (Item - Java™)
        Sets the value of an item to custom data from a byte array.
    - Log (Java™)
      Enables you to record actions and errors that take place during a program's execution. You can record actions and errors in:

      Represents an item of type MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions).
    - MIMEHeader (Java™)
      Represents a header in a MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) document.
    - Name (Java™)
      Represents a user or server name.
    - Newsletter (Java™)
      Document or set of documents that contains information from, or links to, several other documents.
    - NoteCollection (Java™)

      Represents a Domino® calendar.
    - NotesCalendarEntry (Java)
      Represents a Domino® calendar entry.

      Represents a Domino® calendar notice.

      Represents an outline in a database.

      Represents an entry in an outline.
    - NotesProperty (Java™)
      Represents a single property in the Composite Applications properties of a Domino® application. Properties are data transmitted to or from the Property Broker, which routes your application's communication with other components in a composite application. Properties are defined in a Wiring Properties design element.

      Mediates communication between components of a composite application, allowing communication between multiple Java™ components, or between Notes® and Java components.

      Represents the creation or administration of an ID file.

abstractText (Item - Java™)

Abbreviates the contents of a text item.

public String abstractText(int maxlen, boolean dropvowels, boolean userdict)
    throws NotesException

Parameters

int maxlen

The maximum length of the abbreviation.

boolean dropvowels

Specify true if you want to drop vowels from the words in the item. Otherwise, specify false.

boolean userdict

Specify true if you want to use the table of abbreviations in NOTEABBR.TXT. Otherwise, specify false.

Return value

String

The contents of the item, with vowels dropped and abbreviations substituted (if specified), then truncated to fit to maxlen.
