Creating and managing baselines

Project integrators are responsible for building and testing components, making baselines, and recommending baselines. You can use the Project Explorer to make a new baseline and perform other tasks related to managing baselines.

Before making a baseline

Before you make a baseline, make sure that the stream is locked so that developers cannot deliver work to the stream. (You lock the stream while you are building and testing components to ensure that you are working with a static set of files.)

Using a baseline naming template

You can define a template for implementing a baseline naming convention within a project. If you do not specify a baseline naming template, you must supply a base name that is used in naming new baselines. A numeric identifier is appended to a baseline name to make it unique.
