VOB types
All VOBs have the same on-disk directory structure, and all have similar administrative requirements. However, certain VOBs might perform special functions.
VOBs are distinguished as follows:
- An ordinary VOB is a permanent repository for versioned artifacts. It may or may not be a UCM component VOB and there is no attribute that indicates that it is a UCM component VOB (use the lscomp command to determine whether a VOB is a UCM component VOB)
- A project VOB has the UCM VOB (sometimes displayed as sumvob) attribute; it holds metadata about UCM artifacts.
- Any VOB can be an administrative VOB, which is a VOB that is part of an administrative VOB hierarchy. For more information about administrative VOB hierarchies, see VOB datatypes and administrative VOB hierarchies.
