Optional: Installing and configuring the Ephox Editors for IBM Connections
IBM® Connections 6.0 CR5 can use the optional Ephox Editors: TinyMCE or Textbox.io, to replace the IBM Connections default rich text editor.
Optional: Role-based deployment for the Ephox Editor for IBM Connections
The optional role-based deployment module enables administrators to determine and configure which IBM WebSphere Application Server users or groups receive access to the Ephox editor.

  - The installation process
    Review the steps that are required to install IBM® Connections.

    Complete the following tasks before installing IBM® Connections. If you are migrating from a prior release of IBM Connections, do not complete the tasks for creating databases or populating the Profiles database. The migration process handles those tasks automatically.

    Select the IBM® Connections applications that you plan to use and install them in a clustered deployment.

      Register all custom and third-party widgets with Conenctions 6 to ensure they meet security requirements and can display in communities.

      Review the size of the Java™ Virtual Machine heap and adjust it, if necessary, to avoid out-of-memory errors or to suit your hardware capabilities.

      When you have successfully installed IBM® Connections to run on WebSphere® Application Server, you can configure IBM HTTP Server to handle web traffic.

      Create an administrator for Home page so that you can make changes to the application such as adding and removing widgets.

      You must perform additional tasks to enable IBM Connections for the Orient Me home page, the Touchpoint interactive user experience, Community Libraries, Community Surveys, Metrics applications, and more.

Installing the Ephox Editor for a role-based deployment

Install the role-based deployment feature for the Ephox Editor, which is packaged as a standard JEE EAR file and can be installed with either the IBM® WebSphere® Integrated Solutions console or your own installation process.

About this task

The following documentation details how to perform the installation with the WebSphere® Application Server Integrated Solutions console.

Procedure

Update the config.js file to set the editor to role-based deployment.
1. Set the editor: parameter to editor: role-based.
2. Add roleBasedDeployment: true to the file.
Log in to the WebSphere® Application Server Integrated Solutions console. By default this is https://your server:9043/ibm/console.
1. Click New Application > New Enterprise Application.
2. Specify the EphoxEditorsForConnections.ear file that is included in the root directory of the Ephox Editor for IBM Connections™ package, and then click Next.
3. Select the Fast Path installation option and click Next.
Install New Application as follows:
1. Leave all values as their default settings and click Next.
2. Ensure that the application is installed to the server running IBM Connections™ as follows:
  1. Select the check box for the EphoxEditorsForConnections module.
  2. Select the server/cluster/node where the Common application is located from the drop-down list. Also, include your web server.
    Note: Be sure to include the web server so that a fallback to the default editor does not occur.
  3. Click Apply and then click Next.
3. Click Finish to complete the application installation.
4. The application server displays the installation status. When the application installs, click Save.
5. Restart the web server to ensure that the plug-in is updated.

Ephox Editors for IBM Connections ships with TinyMCE and Textbox.io services for spell-checking that require separate installation and configuration. Refer to Installing the Ephox Editors services for spell check
