If you want to change the schema that a database uses,
you must first create a new database, move your existing data, and
then associate that database with the new schema.
Before you begin
Before you assign a new schema to a user database, review the
Manage
databases topic in the online Help for administering
HCL Compass.
Procedure
To create a new user database to prepare for a schema
change:
- Start the Designer.

In the Schema Repository Explorer view, right-click on a schema repository and click .
The New Database wizard opens.
- On the Database Name and Vendor page,
choose a Logical Database Name, select a Database
Vendor, and record any Comments about
the database.
- Select a Database Type, either Production
Database or Test Database.
- Click Next.
- The options on the next page of the wizard will vary depending
on the database vendor you chose. Complete the information required
for your chosen vendor and then click Next.
- On the Database Timeout Option page,
select the Timeout and Poll Interval for
the new database, and then click Next.
- On the Initial Schema Revision page,
select the schema version that you want to associate with the new
database.
- Click Finish.
What to do next
After you create the new database, you must export the data
from your current user database and import it into the new database.
