After you edit and test a schema, you must check it in
to the schema repository. When you check in a schema, the new version
is saved in the schema repository.
About this task
Checking in a schema does not affect existing
user databases. To put your changes into effect, you must apply the
new version of the schema to the user databases by upgrading the user
database.
Procedure
To check in a schema:
- Start the Designer.
-
In the Schema Repository Explorer, right-click the schema version you want to check in, and
then click Revision Control >Checkin.
The Designer validates the schema, and errors are displayed in the Console view.
- Review the validation results and correct any errors.
You cannot check in a schema that contains validation errors.
- If the schema is valid, you will see the Check
In window that contains your original checkout comments.
Edit the comments (optional), and then click OK.
Results
A history of each schema version is saved, so you can view
a previous version and use it in a new database.
