Installing WebSphere Commerce by using the Installation wizard
You can use the Installation wizard to guide you through the installation of WebSphere Commerce and its supporting software.
Before you begin
- Ensure that the machines on which you are starting the Installation wizard meet all WebSphere Commerce requirements. For more information, see Verify hardware, software, and operating system requirements.
- Ensure that you installed and configured the necessary software stack as described in the topic, Preparing for a WebSphere Commerce installation.
Note: During installation, the non-root user and non-root user group must be local; using
LDAP users and groups is not supported.
About this task
Review the following suggestions before you start the Installation wizard:
- The Installation wizard copies a number of large files from the DVD when it is started. The Installation wizard might take a few moments to start. Do not start another instance of the WebSphere Commerce Installation wizard while one is already running. Even if you exit the second occurrence of the wizard, your first installation will fail.
- You can resize the wizard if you encounter text that is cut off or missing.
Procedure

Ensure that you are logged on to your system:
- As the root user. Use the command
su - root
to change to the root user and load the correct environment. - As a user with Administrative authority.
- As the root user. Use the command
- Ensure that you are logged on to your remote Windows system.

Complete the following steps:
- Ensure that you exported your display and that you have access to your X server. For more information, see your operating system documentation.
- Insert the WebSphere Commerce DVD into the DVD-ROM drive.
- Mount the DVD-ROM drive. Note: For Linux on iSeries, switch directories to the directory that contains the contents of the WebSphere Commerce DVD. For more information, see Transferring installation files to a Linux system.
- Go to the location of the local WebSphere Commerce DVD image.

Start the installation wizard.
- From a command prompt, enter:
- mount_point/setup_aix
- Linux on System x: mount_point/setup_linux
- Linux on Power Systems: mount_point/setup_ppclinux
Where mount_point is the DVD-ROM mount point, such as /mnt/dvdrom0.
- From a command prompt, enter
- drive:\setup.exe
Where drive is the drive letter of the DVD-ROM that contains the WebSphere Commerce DVD.
- From a Windows command prompt, enter:
- drive:\iSeriesServer.bat
- From a command prompt, enter:

Select the installation language in the language selection panel, and click
OK.
The software is installed in the language that you selected, regardless of the language settings of your system. Do not select a language that is not supported by the system on which you are installing WebSphere Commerce.

In the IBM i Logon panel, type the System Name,
User Profile, and Password into the respective fields.
Click Next.
Note: Ensure that you log on to your IBM i system as a user with SECOFR class authority. The user profile requires the CCSID for the installation language of WebSphere Commerce. If you did not create a user profile that meets these requirements, see Creating a user profile for instructions.
- Review the Welcome page, and then click Next.

Review the terms of the license agreement and select
one of the following options:
- If you accept the terms of the license agreement, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
- If you decline the terms of the license agreement, select I do not accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next. Declining the terms of the license agreement exits the installation program.
- Enter the home directory of the non-root user and click Next.

Select the WebSphere Commerce edition to install; Enterprise or
Professional.
Note: Ensure that you select the edition that you purchased. If you select an edition for which you do not have a license, then you will be restricted from other entitlements.

Select the components that you want to install on the node. Select Next
to continue.
Descriptions of each component are provided in Installation components. Components that are detected on the system are unavailable for selection in the wizard.

Select the database type that you preinstalled for use with WebSphere Commerce.
A warning message is displayed to ensure that your database meets the minimum requirements. The minimum database levels are:
- IBM DB2 Version 10.5 Fix Pack 5 (10.5.0.5)
- Oracle 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1.0)
- You are prompted to enter the home directory of your database installation. Complete the field and then click Next.

Select the web server type that you want to use with WebSphere Commerce, and then click
Next.
Note:
- If you want to use a remote Web server, select the Remote Web server option.
- If you want to use IBM HTTP Server, ensure that the IBM HTTP Server is installed before you continue.

You are shown the default destination paths for the software components that you selected.
Verify or update the paths for where your software stack was installed.
Important:
- Do not use periods (.), dollar signs ($), spaces, or brackets in the directory name.
- Do not use double-byte characters in the directory name. For example, do not install WebSphere Commerce to a directory that contains Chinese characters in the directory name.
- Long installation paths (over 250 characters) might causes errors when clustering WebSphere Commerce applications and when installing additional software. To avoid problems, choose a shortened installation directory for WebSphere Commerce. For example, in Windows, use C:\WebSphere instead of C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphereCommerce80
- Enter the database user ID, user group, and user home directory. This ID is the operating system ID that owns the physical database files that are on the system.
- Depending on the components that you chose to install, you might be prompted to enter a WebSphere Commerce Configuration Manager user password. Enter values and click Next to continue.
- Enter the non-root WebSphere Application Server user ID, user group, and home directory.
- If you want to create a WebSphere Commerce response file that is based on the current installation options, then select the Create a response file check box.

Specify a filename and location. Select Next.
Note: If you select Create a response file, the selections that you made during your GUI installation is saved in a response file. The response file can then be used during silent installations on separate machines.
- On the Confirmation page, review the components to be installed and their locations.

Ensure that IBM HTTP Server is not running before you continue.
To change any configurations, select Back. To begin installing the components that are listed on the Confirmation page, select Next.

When the installation is complete, the Installation wizard completion panel is displayed.
Review the information and then click Finish.
Note: WebSphere Commerce for IBM i is packaged with Mod Pack 1. Your environment is automatically at the Mod Pack 1 (8.0.1.0) level.

Update WebSphere Commerce to the latest maintenance package, WebSphere Commerce
Version 8 Mod Pack 4 Fix Pack 30 (8.0.4.30).
