The information contained in this section applies to IBM WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.9 and Feautre Pack 8. The documentation also applies to all subsequent releases and modifications until otherwise indicated in new editions.

  3. Installing

Review this section for information about installing the WebSphere Commerce product, associated maintenance, and WebSphere Commerce enhancements.

  4. Deploying WebSphere Commerce virtual system patterns or virtual application patterns

WebSphere Commerce provides virtual system patterns and virtual application patterns that you can use to deploy a virtual WebSphere Commerce environment. You can use the patterns with IBM PureApplication System V2.1.0, IBM PureApplication Software V2.1.0, or the IBM PureApplication Service V2.1.0.

  5. Deploying non-production virtual environments

IBM WebSphere Commerce Patterns 2.1.0.1 non-production environments for multiplatform provide virtualization of a single-tier environment for non-production purposes. Deploy these virtual system patterns with IBM PureApplication Software V2.1.0 IBM PureApplication System V2.1.0, or IBM PureApplication Service V2.1.0 to get a 64-bit virtual machine with WebSphere Commerce Enterprise Version 7, Feature Pack 8, and Fix Pack 9 installed and enabled on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. After deployment, use the Virtualization WebSphere Commerce test environment for non-production purposes, as if you installed and configured WebSphere Commerce in a native environment. If you have customizations in a WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool server deployment package, you can deploy them along with the newly created virtual system. The virtual system instance has the latest fix pack, feature pack, and interim fixes applied. If you want to apply any newer fix pack or interim fixes in the future, you can deploy them to the virtual system instance in the workload console.

  6. Configuring after deployment

After you deploy the pattern, configure the non-production environment.

    • Planning

Creating a custom implementation of a WebSphere Commerce store requires a significant amount of planning. From gathering client needs, to deploying the live solution, much work is needed to successfully deploy a custom client store. Use the resources in here to help you plan every phase of store creation.

    • Installing

Review this section for information about installing the WebSphere Commerce product, associated maintenance, and WebSphere Commerce enhancements.

      • Downloading WebSphere Commerce media images

To install WebSphere Commerce, you require the product package. Follow these steps to successfully download the required media.

      • Installing WebSphere Commerce Developer

Depending on the size of your organization, there are two options available to you for installing WebSphere Commerce Developer. In a large development organization, you might want to create a common central repository so that you can set up and manage multiple identical development environments. If this option is not appropriate for your organization, you can instead install WebSphere Commerce Developer on each individual workstation.

      • Deploying WebSphere Commerce virtual system patterns or virtual application patterns

        • Deploying a virtual software library

IBM WebSphere Commerce Patterns 2.1.0.1 software libraries for multiplatform provide virtualization of a file server to serve software that is required to deploy other patterns. Deploy these virtual system patterns with IBM PureApplication Software, IBM PureApplication System, or IBM PureApplication Service to get a 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux virtual machine. After deployment, use the virtualized WebSphere Commerce library environment to upload and serve files though the HTTPS protocol to other virtual machines, as if you were working in a native environment. If you have customizations in a WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool server deployment package, you can upload it to have the customizations propagate from the newly created virtual system.

        • Deploying non-production virtual environments

          • Downloading and importing virtual system patterns

The IBM WebSphere Commerce Patterns V2.1.0.1 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux eAssembly contains the necessary WebSphere Commerce virtual system patterns. You can obtain the WebSphere Commerce virtual system pattern eAssembly through the Passport Advantage website.

          • Deploying the virtual system pattern

Provide details about the virtual system pattern in IBM PureApplication Software, IBM PureApplication System, or IBM PureApplication Service. Then, deploy the IBM WebSphere Commerce Pattern V2.1.0.1 environment for Red Hat Enterprise Linux for x86.

          • Customizing deployed virtual system instances

You can update each virtual system instance that you deploy with your own customization in a WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool package.

          • Updating deployed virtual system instances with the latest fix pack, feature pack, or interim fixes

Optionally, you can update your deployed virtual system instances with the latest fix pack, feature pack, or interim fixes.

          • Accessing the deployed system

After the virtual system is deployed, you can access the virtual system instance.

          • Verifying deployment

Examine log information to determine whether the IBM WebSphere Commerce Patterns 2.1.0.1 non-production environments for multiplatform instance was deployed successfully.

          • Overview of the deployed WebSphere Commerce environment

Review the following information about the WebSphere Commerce system that you deployed.

          • Configuring after deployment

After you deploy the pattern, configure the non-production environment.

        • Deploying production virtual environments

IBM WebSphere Commerce Patterns V2.1.0.1 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux provide virtualization of a multitier environment for production purposes. Deploy these virtual system patterns with IBM PureApplication Software V2.1.0, IBM PureApplication System V2.1.0, or IBM PureApplication Service V2.1.0 to get a 64-bit virtual machine with WebSphere Commerce Enterprise Version 7, Feature Pack 8, and Fix Pack 9 installed and enabled on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. After deployment, use the Virtualization WebSphere Commerce environment for production purposes, as if you installed and configured WebSphere Commerce in a native environment. If you have customizations in a WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool server deployment package, you can deploy them along with the newly created virtual system. The virtual system instance has the latest fix pack, feature pack, and interim fixes applied. If you want to apply any newer fix pack, or interim fixes in the future, you can deploy them to the virtual system instance in the workload console.
