Transforming, loading, and extracting data
WebSphere Commerce provides multiple utilities for preparing and loading data into a WebSphere Commerce database. The loading utilities are flexible and you can continue to use these utilities when you customize the WebSphere Commerce schema.
Data Load utility
The Data Load utility is the new enhanced business object based loading utility. This utility provides an efficient solution for loading information into your WebSphere Commerce database. You can also customize the Data Load utility to load other types of data. The Data Load utility is the recommended loading utility.

The samples that are provided with the Data Load utility demonstrate best-practice methods for loading data using common loading scenarios. Use the samples as a template for loading your own data to your store.

Note: These samples require the Aurora starter store. Ensure that the Aurora starter store is published before you run any of the Commerce Composer samples.

If you want to use the sample configuration files for loading Commerce Composer objects to load your own Commerce Composer data, you can use the Data Extract utility to generate the input files for loading your data. For samples that demonstrate how to generate these files with the Data Extract utility, see

You can then edit the sample configuration files for loading data to load the extracted data instead of the provided sample input files.

Note: You must apply the interim fixes for APAR JR53438.fep and APAR JR53438.fp to add support to the Data Extract utility for extracting Commerce Composer data.
