Deploy Frontend

The frontend deployment is the final step in the BigFix UI Configuration Manager setup process. In this step, the system unpacks and installs the frontend files required for the application’s user interface. Deploying the frontend ensures that all previously configured components; administrative credentials, database settings, and certificates are integrated and accessible through the application interface. Completing this step finalizes the setup and makes the BigFix UI ready for use.

About this task

This task explains how to deploy the frontend component in the BigFix UI Configuration Manager to complete the setup process.

Procedure

  1. After completing BES Explorer configurations, click Next button to open the Frontend screen.
  2. Click the Deploy frontend button to begin unpacking the frontend files.

If the deployment is successful, a message such as "Frontend deployed successfully" appears.

If deployment fails, an error message is displayed ("Error deploying frontend files: Unknown error")

  3. In the Setup process successfully completed pop-up, review the suggested BigFix UI URL.

The pop-up confirms that the setup finished and shows the URL to use to start using BigFix UI. If the application is installed as a service, ensure that the service has started before you browse to the URL.

Click the copy icon next to the URL to copy it to the clipboard.

  4. Click Exit setup to close the BigFix UI Configuration Manager.

How the suggested URL is built

The setup process derives the suggested URL from the CORS allowed origins value that you set in the Configure Application Settings step:

  • If CORS allowed origins is * (the default), the URL is https://127.0.0.1/ui. The port is added only if it is not 443, for example https://127.0.0.1:8443/ui.
  • If CORS allowed origins has a custom value, the URL is the first origin in the list plus /ui. For example, https://192.168.0.7,https://bfui.myserver.com gives https://192.168.0.7/ui.
Important: Use * for development only. In production, set a comma-separated list of trusted origins instead.
