Using the Uninstall BigFix Plugin for VMware Discovery
Task, you can remove the VMware plug-in.
Before you begin
This Task removes the VMware plug-in only. You must first remove the VMware plug-in, then
uninstall the plug-in portal with a separate Fixlet. In the BES Support site, run the
latest version of the Uninstall BigFix
Portal
Plugin Portal Fixlet to remove
the plug-in portal.
About this task
The Uninstall BigFix Plugin for VMware Discovery
Task removes the VMware but does not
remove the list of computers that are associated with a relay server or a root server. If you
reconfigure the VMware plug-in at a later stage, the reconfiguration might cause computers with
duplicate names to be displayed within the BigFix console. To remove unwanted
computers from the database of the BigFix console, navigate to the
All Content domain, select Computers and from the
Computers list, select the computers that you want to remove,
right-click, and select Remove from Database.
Procedure
- Open the Server Automation domain.
- From the navigation tree in the Server Automation domain,
click .

In the Remove VMware
Components window, select the Uninstall BigFix Plugin for VMware
Discovery
Task.

In the Task: Uninstall BigFix Plugin for VMware Discovery window,
click Take Action.
- In the Take Action dialog box, ensure Specific
computers selected in the list below is selected.

In the Computer Name list, select the computer from which you want
to remove the VMware plug-in and click OK.
Results
In the Action: Uninstall BigFix Plugin for VMware Discovery window,
you can check the status of the uninstall. When the status changes to
Completed, the VMware plug-in for VMware is uninstalled from the root server or
the relay server.
