Creating Disconnected scan package from a mustgather

There is a Python script that automatically generates a disconnected scanner package from MustGather. The script uses scan results from sha1 folder and creates a package_scan result file by using the content of BIGFIX_Long_Question_Results.csv. The script allows creating disconnected scanner packages from mustgathers that contain new file format (bfiswfacts_0_bfiswfacts). The script also allow creating the scan package, when some scans are missing, for example the citsearch.

Note: The script does not support new scan results format: bfiswfacts.zip / bfiswfacts.tar.gz.

The prerequisites are:

  • Python version 3+ installed
  • MustGather in zipped form

Instructions:

  1. Start the script with command:
    python .\mtd.py <path to zipped mustgather> <optional: computer name>
  2. If you do not provide a computer name as the second parameter, the script asks you for the name in a separate prompt. The script generates a zip (in the same folder as script) with scan results from MustGather and the computer name you selected.

  3. Place the zip in the path of your configured Disconnected Data Source in BigFix Inventory.
  4. Run data import.

Known issues:

  • The sript may fail if some of the scans are missing.
  • The Computer.yml details are hardcoded (except for computer name).
