IBM i Workload Groups
IBM i Workload Groups is a feature within the IBM i operating system designed to help manage and control the resources consumed by different workloads on the system. This feature allows administrators to group jobs and tasks into different categories, known as workload groups, and apply resource constraints or priorities to these groups.
Statement on BigFix Inventory and IBM i Workload Groups
BigFix Inventory, currently does not support the automatic consideration of IBM i Workload Groups when calculating sub-capacity licenses (PVU/RVU), the PVU/RVU values in the quarterly Audit Snapshot reports may be inaccurate. In addition to the BigFix Inventory Audit Snapshot quarterly generated, it is required to attach to the Audit Snapshots the additional evidence of:
- Information about the servers and LPARs on which the Workload Group is defined (data that matches the information about servers and LPARs available on the Computers panel in the BigFix Inventory Web UI, which will facilitate easy correlation with IBM reports).
- The names of the Workload Groups.
- The defined limits for each Workload Group (CPU).
- A list of IBM software programs (Product Names) assigned to or operating within each IBM i Workload Group.
All necessary data can be collected from the system leveraging IBM i system commands such as, but not limited to: Display Workload Capping Group (DSPWLCGRP).
In the absence of this evidence, IBM will rely on the data provided by BigFix Inventory.
