Step 4: Post-Execution Verification and Cleanup

Step 4 includes the post-execution verification and cleanup of the database.

  1. Verify Complete Purge: Run the validation queries to ensure no leftover endpoint assets remain linked to the deleted datasource (should return 0 and STATUS as PASS):
    SELECT
        'dbo.computers_persistent' AS TABLE_NAME,
        COUNT(*) AS REMAINING_ROWS,
        CASE WHEN COUNT(*) = 0 THEN 'PASS' ELSE 'FAIL' END AS STATUS
    FROM dbo.computers_persistent
    WHERE datasource_id = 1;

    SELECT
        'dbo.standalone_computers' TABLE_NAME,
        COUNT(*),
        CASE WHEN COUNT(*) = 0 THEN 'PASS' ELSE 'FAIL' END
    FROM dbo.standalone_computers
    WHERE datasource_id = 1
    ORDER BY TABLE_NAME
    WITH UR;

    SELECT
       'dbo.datasources' AS TABLE_NAME,
       COUNT(*) AS REMAINING_ROWS,
       CASE
           WHEN COUNT(*) = 0 THEN 'PASS'
           ELSE 'FAIL'
       END AS STATUS
    FROM dbo.datasources
    WHERE id = 1
    WITH UR;
  2. Check Total Execution Receipt: Retrieve the total duration recorded by the log table:
    SELECT message, duration_seconds
    FROM dbo.procedure_log
    WHERE message LIKE 'SUCCESS%'
    ORDER BY log_time DESC;
  3. Execution Log Export for Review: If issues arise, export the logs using the following SQL and provide them to support for assistance.
    SELECT log_time, message, duration_seconds
    FROM dbo.procedure_log
    ORDER BY log_time ASC;
  4. Restart BigFix Inventory Application: You may safely restart the BigFix Inventory service.
