Software Scan Status

Computer software scan statuses provide information about the software scan condition of the computers that are monitored by BigFix Inventory. To properly discover the installed software and measure its license metric utilization, ensure that computers in your environment work correctly. This status is calculated during data import and available for selection in Computer and Software Classification reports.

Statuses in Success Category (no action is required):
Scanned in last 14 days The last software scan results were successfully processed and not older than 14 days.
Setup in progress There were no scan attempts yet, however the computer was First Seen no more than 3 days ago and is subject for initial configuration. Please wait.
Disconnected data source The computer is from a disconnected data source so software scan was collected according to its scan settings.
Not reporting in last 14 days The computer is not active. Last Seen date is at least 14 days ago, however Software Scan data is available.
Statuses in Partial Category (medium or possibly transient problem resulting in partial or obsolete scan data):
Catalog not updated in 7 days The Scanner Catalog version is older than the current server catalog version and it is after 7 days graceful period for catalog propagation. Please check the Scanner Catalog Distribution fixlet execution against this computer.
Last scan failing The last software scan failed, but there are results from previous scans.
Last upload failing

The last upload of the software scan failed, but there are results from previous scans.

We recommend to use BigFix Platform 11.0.5 and _BESRelay_PostFile_PassThrough=1

Check that Archive Size is not exceeded on the endpoint:

Checking whether the maximum archive size is exceeded

Not scanned in last 14 days

The computer is actively reporting however the software scan was not executed for more than 14 days.

Check if Initiate Software Scan action executions on the device.

Statuses in Failed Category (major problems resulting in lack of scan data):
Missing OS property

BigFix Platform predefined property OS is not collected and replicated to BigFix Inventory.

Check if OS property is collected. Consider forcing a refresh on the device if only a few are affected.

Missing catalog Scanner Catalog Distribution failed or is not reported. Check Scanner Catalog Distribution fixlet execution against this computer and if Software Scan Status analysis is active and reporting results for the device.
No scan attempted There is no Scan Attempt recorded for the device. Check executions of Initiate Software Scan fixlet on the device.
No scan received The is recorded Scan Attempt however scan result files do not reach the BigFix Platform server. Check Upload Software Scan Results on the device.
Continuous: software scan processing issue There was an issue with processing of the last Continuous Software Scan package.
Daily: File scan processing issue There was an issue with processing of the last file system scan.
Daily: SWIDTAG scan processing issue There was an issue with processing of the last the software identification tags scan.
Daily: Catalog scan processing issue There was an issue with processing of the last catalog based scan.
Daily: Package scan processing issue There was an issue with processing of the last package scan.
Continuous: processing pending over 24 hours Scan results from continuous discovery were not processed for more than 24 hours
Unexpected error Unspecified error with the software scan not falling to any of above categories. Subject for improving the health check.
Status for Computers not applicable to Software Scan:
Not Applicable: not subscribed. Software Scan is not applicable for the device.
