  As you prepare for an installation, you need to gather some items, review hardware and software requirements, and then you can perform the installation.
  - Before installing Unica Discover Session Archiving
    Before you install Unica Discover Session Archiving, you need to gather the software needed for the installation.
  - Hardware requirements
    The Unica Discover Session Archiving server has some hardware requirements.
  - Software requirements
    In general, do not install Unica Discover Session Archiving on a server where other resource- intensive applications are installed.
  - Installing Unica Discover Session Archiving software
    To install Session Archiving software, complete the following steps:
  - Upgrading Unica Discover Session Archiving from a previous version
    If you do not have Session Archiving application, install the 12.1.1 version and upgrade it to the 12.1.3 version. If you have already installed the Session Archiving application, upgrade it to version 12.1.3.
  - Prerequisite configurations for Session Archiving Server on Distributed environment
    If you have Apache Tomcat as the application server, you need Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for Apache Tomcat webserver runtime. Before installing Session Archiving Server, you must configure JRE_HOME.
  - Adding a Unica Discover Session Archiving server
    In this installation step, you add the Unica Discover Session Archiving server.
  - Configuring permissions
    In this step, you configure the Session Archiving permissions.
  - Restarting the Unica Discover Management Server
  - Creating the Unica Discover Session Archiving server
    In this installation step, you enable communications between the Unica Discover Portal and Unica Discover Session Archiving, and you create an instance of the Unica Discover Session Archiving Server in the Portal Management page.

Restarting the Unica Discover Management Server

If you are installing Unica Discover Session Archiving on a pre-existing server, such as the Unica Discover Portal Server, then you must restart the Unica Discover Management Server.
