Using the dynamic search for remote assets

Use the dynamic search in the Graphical Designer to query remote systems, select assets, and automatically populate your task definitions.

About this task

When configuring specific tasks that connect to external systems, such as shadow tasks for cross dependencies, you can dynamically select remote assets (like workstations or workflows) instead of typing their names manually. After you provide the connection parameters, either directly in the task Connection panel or by referencing an Endpoint asset, you can use the search to query the remote engine.
Note: The dynamic search only works for HCL Universal Orchestrator to HCL Universal Orchestrator connections.

Procedure

  1. In the task properties panel, locate the target identification field and click the Search action button.
A search dialog opens, displaying dynamic filters retrieved directly from the remote engine.
  2. Enter your filter values in the provided fields and click Search.
The system queries the remote engine and displays a table of matching remote assets.
  3. Select the desired row from the search results and click Add.
The dialog closes, and all relevant target identification fields in your task definition are automatically populated with the data from the selected remote asset.
