v2.1.7+Configuring a Slack channel for an AI agent chatbot

In the Graphical Designer, you can add a Slack channel to an AI agent chatbot to route messages between the agent and a Slack workspace managed by the Event Manager.

Before you begin

To add a Slack channel, the following conditions must be met:

  • The target AI agent must be configured as a chatbot. The Published as Chatbot option must be enabled in the General Information section of the AI agent definition.
  • The Slack workspace app must be fully provisioned and active on the Slack platform before registration.

About this task

The Channels panel in the Graphical Designer lists all external messaging integrations registered for the AI agent. Each channel entry specifies a plug-in type and the connection properties required by the Event Manager to route messages.

Procedure

  1. Open your target AI agent block in the Graphical Designer.
  2. Locate the Channels collapsible panel.
  3. Click Add new + inside the Channels panel.
  4. In the Channel Name field, type a unique descriptive identifier for this integration endpoint.

    For example: SLACK_CHANNEL.

  5. In the Type dropdown, select SlackBOT.
  6. Complete the plug-in definition fields using the connection attributes for your Slack workspace.

For the full list of required and optional parameters, see SlackBOT plug-in configuration parameters.

  7. Save the AI agent definition.
The Slack channel entry appears in the Channels panel. The Event Manager registers the endpoint and begins routing inbound Slack messages to the AI agent.

Results

The AI agent chatbot is now reachable through the configured Slack workspace. End users who send a message to that workspace for the first time receive an authentication link. After they authenticate, their session remains valid for 30 days.

What to do next

To understand the authentication lifecycle and session management for external channel users, see Communication channels for AI agent chatbots. To configure the channel programmatically using Orchestration CLI, see Managing an AI agent using Orchestration CLI.
