Known Issues in Z and I Emulator for Web

This documentation gives you information about the known issues and possible workarounds (if any) in various versions of HCL Z and I Emulator for Web.

Note : This document is updated periodically as new information becomes available.

ZIEWeb Version 1.0

1. Support unavailable for Server-side Java runtime in PPCLinux :

   For the Server-side components, Java runtime which is bundled within the product is currently not supported. Users may enable the system java runtime for all the components instead.

2. License Manager limitation :

   Failure to load License Manger in PPCLinux, due to limitations on third-party jars (SQLite).

ZIEWeb Version 2.0

1. PROBLEM: Duplicate entries created in config.properties file (under publish directory) for Default values of Embedded Server configuration :

   • If the Embedded Server option was chosen with customized values in the previous installation of ZIEWeb (version 1.1.1), the customized values in the config.properties file are lost when upgrading to ZIEWeb v2.0.
   • If the Embedded Server option was chosen with default values in the previous installation of ZIEWeb (version 1.1.1), a few parameters in the config.properties file are duplicated automatically when upgrading to ZIEWeb v2.0.
   • While rolling back from ZIEWeb version 2.0 to the previous refresh pack (ZIEWeb v1.1.1), duplicate entries may get created in the config.properties file.

   SOLUTION: To resolve the unexpected errors while upgrading ZIEWeb from v1.1.1 to v2.0, the config.properties file must be manually corrected after the upgrade, by adding new custom values or deleting the duplicate entries.

2. PROBLEM: NSMprop file (in z/OS) is rendered unreadable after upgrading ZIEWeb from prior versions to version 2.0 :

   In z/OS, the NSMprop file, which is present in the private directory, maybe rendered unreadable, when upgraded from the previous versions of ZIEWeb (v1.0 or v1.1.1) to the latest version (v2.0).

   SOLUTION: Before upgrading ZIEWeb from a prior version to v2.0, Save a copy of the NSMprop file (from the previous installation), and after upgrading to ZIEWeb v2.0, replace the newly created NSMprop file in the private directory with your saved copy.

ZIEWeb Client Version 16.0

Problem: Following the upgrade to HCL ZIE for Web Client16.0.0.0, the Keyboard Remap "Choose File" button is unresponsive across all supported browsers.

ZIEWeb Version 16.0.1

ZIEWEB 16.0.1 includes the following limitations:

1. Administrative utilities and the embedded server require Java 17 as a prerequisite. Since Java 17 is not officially supported on PPC BE OS, the embedded server cannot be used on this platform. To avoid upgrade issues, deployments on PPC BE OS must use an external web server.

2. The embedded server supports Jakarta EE–based applications only. Legacy Java EE–based WAR files will not load. If HEX or LM applications were deployed using the Host On-Demand installer, upgrading to newer versions will fail unless the WAR files are updated. You must download and deploy the Jakarta EE–compatible WAR files for this release.

   Maintaining a backup of the existing installer before upgrading is strongly recommended.

3. When the FIPS 140-3 profile is enabled through the config.properties file, the ZIEWeb Lite Client Launcher application fails to launch over a secure (HTTPS) connection.

4. On the Greek operating system, console mode installation must be performed only using the English locale.

5. Updating the Java 17 path

   During installation the Java 17 path will not get updated, user needs to update the Java 17 path manually in the below specific files for the respecitve operating system.

6. Bin directory removal during upgrade

   During an upgrade installation, custom files in the <InstallDir>\bin directory are removed.

   Users must back up any custom files before starting the upgrade.

7. Jakarta EE deployment support

   Starting with v16.0.1, Jakarta EE–based WAR files are provided. These applications cannot be deployed on WebSphere Application Server (WAS).

   If Z and I Emulator for Windows was previously deployed on WAS, users must configure a Java EE–based web application server obtained from Fix Central after the upgrade.

8. ZIEWeb Host Access Toolkit installer

   The ZIEWeb Host Access Toolkit installer version remains at v16.0.0.0.

   If v16.0 is already installed, users must uninstall the existing HACL Toolkit version before installing the latest v16.0 release.
