This edition of the documentation provides information applicable to Z Abend Investigator Version 16 Release 1. Changes in this edition include the
following new support:
- Z Abend Investigator provides a Microsoft Visual Studio (VS) Code extension client that works in conjunction with the Zowe Explorer VS Code Extension. The HCL Z Abend Investigator Microsoft Visual Studio Code extension includes an intuitive interface to help developers analyze and fix application and system failures. See Z Abend Investigator on VS Code.

This edition of the documentation provides information applicable to Z Abend Investigator Version 16 Release 1. Changes in this edition include:
- Support for Java™ JVM versions, up to and including version 17. For details, see Adding the Snap class to the application class path and Using the Z Abend Investigator Java wrapper utility.
- A new "@" command has been provided for the Dump Storage display. For details, see Displaying storage locations.
- Scroll and cursor positions are now maintained when using the PREV and NEXT commands from the Dump Storage display. For details, see NEXT and PREV.

- New messages have been added:
- Z Abend Investigator now provides a CICS web services transaction. See CICS web services transaction.
- Z Abend Investigator XDUMPs have been enabled by default. For details, see Extended minidump data set (XDUMP).
- Support for spilling pages to the XDUMP data set when MaxMinidumpPages is exceeded has been added. For details, see Extended minidump data set (XDUMP).
- A new column, Spilled, has been added to the Fault Entry List display. For details, see Available columns.
- A general method for testing XDUMP configuration has been provided in Verifying the use of XDUMPs.
- A new option, UnreferencedPagesValid, has been provided. For details, see UnreferencedPagesValid.
- Support for program names up to 32 characters in length has been added:
- A new field, ENV.POF_LONG_PGM_NAME, has been added. For details, see ENV - Common exit environment information.
- A new field, LST.LONG_PROGRAM_NAME, has been added. For details, see LST - Compiler Listing Read user exit parameter list.
- A new column, Program_(long) has been added to the Fault Entry List display. For details, see Available columns.
- A new section, HFZS subsystem requirements for deletion of migrated tightly-coupled associated dump data sets, has been added.
- The Fault Entry Refresh exit prompt display has changed. For details, see Refresh processing.
- Information about adding CICS abend codes in the HFZHUSRM member has been provided. For details, see User-defined abend code explanations.
- A new section, Special consideration for 2GB-4GB addresses, has been added.
- A new options field, PREVEXIT, has been added to the HFZOPTLM configuration-options module. For details, see Suppressing HFZXDCAP real-time analysis if prior exit RC=8 (PREVEXIT).
- Support for the use of a new DDname, HFZSYSLB, with the DSECT command and the HFZPDSCU utility has been added. For details, see HFZSYSLB concatenation.
