About the Merge Manager

The Merge Manager coordinates information gathering for a merge, keeps track of status of the merge, and maintains logs of messages related to steps conducted for individual elements involved in a merge.

To coordinate a merge, Merge Manager runs other tools and maintains status as follows:

• The Merge Manager starts in a non-UCM context (that is, not in a deliver or rebase operation). It runs the Find Wizard to gather information that it supplies to Find Merge.
• Optionally runs Diff Merge for you to resolve merge conflicts.
• Keeps status of elements that are selected for the merge and maintains a log of messages for each element (called an element log) involved in the merge.
• Lets you save and retrieve the state of a merge.
