To update snapshot views
About this task
To make sure that your snapshot view contains the set of versions that the config spec selects, you must update it. You can also update chosen directories and files.
Tip: You
cannot update a checked-out file. To undo changes to a checked-out file and
start over with the version in the VOB, cancel the checkout.
You can update a snapshot view from the command line, from HCL VersionVault Windows Explorer, from Windows Explorer, or from Visual Studio.
To update a snapshot view,
complete one of the following options:
- From the command line, use the following command with the path of
the snapshot view root directory:
cleartool update -graphical path
Tip: Alternatively, you can navigate to the snapshot view root directory and enter the following command without the path: cleartool update -graphicalThe Update Tool starts. You can click Advanced and change default options for the Update Tool. If you need to resolve hijacked files, select a method. You have these choices:- Leave hijacked files in place
- Rename the hijacked files and load the selected version from the VOB
- Delete hijacked files and load the selected version from the VOB
- Set file times to current time
- Set file times to version creation time
- From VersionVault
Windows Explorer, do the following:
- Click Update View. The Start Update window opens. . Then click
- In Which view do you want to update?, select the root directory of the snapshot view to be updated. Use the drop-down list or click Browse to navigate to the snapshot view root directory.
- In the Start Update window, you can do the following:
- Select the Preview only check box and do a preview without actually performing the update. When the preview completes, you can perform the update.
- Click the Advanced tab and change default options for the Update Tool. If
you need to resolve hijacked files, select a method. You have these choices:
- Leave hijacked files in place
- Rename the hijacked files and load the selected version from the VOB
- Delete hijacked files and load the selected version from the VOB
- Set file times to current time
- Set file times to version creation time
- Click OK.
The update procedure begins and a progress indicator is displayed. When the update is complete, the Snapshot View Update window displays a categorized list of the actions taken to update the view.
Windows tip: In VersionVault Windows Explorer, to start the update automatically without opening the Start Update window, right-click the root directory of the view and click Update View. - From Windows Explorer, do the following:
- Right-click the root directory of the snapshot view and click .
- In the Start Update window, you can do the following:
