Planning the Interact upgrade

Upgrade your installation of Interact after understanding the guidelines that are specific to your current version of Interact.

Use the following guidelines for upgrading Interact:

This two-columned table provides information about the source version of Interact in one column, and about the upgrade path in the second column.
Source version Upgrade path

Any 5.x or 6.x version

Install Interact 9.1.1 in a new location.

Note: There is no upgrade path from Interact 5.x or 6.x to the latest version of Interact.

Any 7.x or pre-8.5x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade Interact:
  1. Upgrade your earlier version to version 8.5x or 8.6x.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 8.5x or 8.6x over your old version.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the IBM® EMM Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
  2. Upgrade your 8.5x or 8.6x version to version 9.1.0 or 9.1.0.2.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 9.1.0 or 9.1.0.2 over your old version.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the IBM EMM Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
  3. Upgrade your 9.1.0 or 9.1.0.2 version to 9.1.1x.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of the new 9.1.1 version of Interact over your old version. Upgrade to 9.1.1 is only supported from 9.1 or 9.1.0.2.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the IBM EMM Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.

Any 8.5x version or 8.6x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade Interact:
  1. Upgrade your earlier version to version 9.1.0 or 9.1.0.2.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 9.1.0 or 9.1.0.2 over your old version.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the IBM EMM Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
  2. Upgrade your 9.1.0 or 9.1.0.2 version to 9.1.1x.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of the new 9.1.1 version of Interact over your old version. Upgrade to 9.1.1 is only supported from 9.1 or 9.1.0.2.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the IBM EMM Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.

Any 9.0x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade Interact:
  1. Upgrade your earlier version to version 9.1.0 or 9.1.0.2.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of version 9.1.0 or 9.1.0.2 over your old version.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the IBM EMM Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.
  2. Follow the instructions to upgrade any Interact version 9.0 to the new version.
  3. Upgrade your 9.1.0 or 9.1.0.2 version to 9.1.1x.

    1. Perform an in-place installation of the new 9.1.1 version of Interact over your old version. Upgrade to 9.1.1 is only supported from 9.1 or 9.1.0.2.

      Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

      Important: You must upgrade Campaign before you upgrade the Interact design time environment.
    2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
    3. Upgrade the reports package as explained in the IBM EMM Reports Installation and Configuration Guide.

Any 9.1x version
Complete the following steps to upgrade Interact:

  1. Perform an in-place installation of the new 9.1.1 version of Interact over your old version. Upgrade to 9.1.1 is only supported from 9.1 or 9.1.0.2.

    Use the Interact installer for both the design time environment and the runtime environment.

  2. Run the upgrade tools to upgrade configuration settings, files, and data from your source Interact version.
