Accessing delegated mail files and mail-in databases

You can use HCL Verse for Android to access a mail file that another person has delegated to you, or a mail-in (shared) database, such as a team, support, or resource mailbox. You sign in with your own credentials — the mail file owner's password is never required.

A delegated mailbox is added to Verse as an additional account. It appears alongside your own account in the account list, and you can switch between them at any time. From a delegated mailbox you can read, create, and modify mail, calendar entries, contacts, and To Do's, and mail you send is sent on behalf of the mailbox owner.

Before you begin

Delegation must be enabled on your HCL Traveler server, and the server must support multiple accounts. If the Add delegated mailbox option does not appear in Verse, contact your administrator.

You must already have been granted access to the mailbox. For a person's mail file, the owner (or an administrator) grants you delegate access — for example, from HCL Notes mail file preferences or from HTMO. For a mail-in database, an administrator grants you access in the database's access control list (ACL). In both cases you need at least Editor access. Verse for Android cannot be used to grant delegate access to your own mail file.

For a mail-in database, Editor access or higher in the database ACL is required. Lower access levels — Reader, Author, Depositor, or No Access — are not supported for a mail-in database account in Verse for Android, even if they let you open the same database in other clients.

To access a mail-in database, you need its address — the internet address from its Mail-In Database document, or its short (common) name (for example, `Support Mailbox`). Your administrator can provide this.
