Adding a new Microsoft™ Outlook profile
Create a new profile in Microsoft™ Outlook that syncs with your IBM® Notes® mail.
Before you begin
About this task
You must use one profile for the IBM mail client and the client must be the primary account in the profile.
Note: If your account has already been set up by an administrator, simply launching Outlook will
present you with a password prompt, and you can ignore this Help topic.
Procedure

To begin the setup, complete the steps that apply to your situation:
Table 1. Steps to begin setup Situation Steps You previously set up Outlook and have an existing profile. The IBM® mail add-in requires its own profile. Complete the following steps to configure Outlook to prompt you to choose a profile and to create a new profile for the IBM® mail add-in: - Open
- In the search box, enter mail.
- Double-click the mail item in the result. Typically the name is Mail (32 bit).
- Click Show profiles.
- Select Prompt for a profile to use and click OK.
- Start Outlook, select .
- Type a profile name and click OK.
- Continue to Step 2.
You're setting up Outlook for the first time. - Start Outlook.
- At the Welcome to Outlook window click Next.
- At the Do you want to set up Outlook to connect to an email account? in the Microsoft Outlook Account Setup window, Select Yes and click Next.
- Continue to Step 2.
- If you use Office 365 and see the window Connect Outlook to Office 365, click Connect to a different account. Do not click Connect.
- Select Manual setup or additional server types, and click Next.
- In the Choose service box, select Other. Then, select IBM Mail Sync, and click Next.

In the IBM Mail Sync Configuration window:
- In the Your Name field, enter the name to be shown in the Microsoft Outlook interface.
- Email Address field, enter your email address, for example, sdaryn@mail.renovations.com.
- In the Server Type field, select My Company's Mail Server.
- In the Server Name field, enter your mail server name, for example, mail.renovations.com.
- Click Next.
- When prompted, provide your organization password and click OK.

A window is shown with check marks indicating that each step in connecting is successful. Click
through the dialog boxes to open your new profile.
Note: Ignore the You need to restart Outlook warning.

Note: If you can't connect in
Step 4:
- Confirm that your user name and password are correct.
- Confirm that your mail file is available; your administrator can help.
- If you see an error containing the text ibm_mail_sync.dll (not ibm_mail_sync32.dll), you're running 64-bit Microsoft™ Outlook or Microsoft™ Office, which isn't supported. Install the 32-bit version, instead. See Client requirements.
What to do next
To be able to look up names, connect to your corporate directory.
If you made a local archive of your mail before you installed the IBM mail client, add the archive file to your IBM mail client account.
