In order for you to use , both the database server and the application must support the following Informix® application products:

Informix® ESQL/C develops client applications in the C language and can contain embedded SQL statements.
For more information about how to write ESQL/C applications, see the Informix® ESQL/C Programmer's Manual.
The Informix® DataBlade® API supports development of client applications and user-defined routines (UDRs).
Both kinds of DataBlade® programs use DataBlade® API functions to communicate with HCL Informix®. For more information about how to use the DataBlade® API, see the Informix® DataBlade® API Programmer's Guide.

The ESQL/C or DataBlade® API client application that uses can obtain locale information from the Informix® database server that supports GLS functionality.

A DataBlade® server routine can use to obtain locale information from HCL Informix® with UD Option.
