CDP and CDM integration

HCL CDP integrates with the Canonical Data Model (CDM) to provide automated data pipelines, UI-driven property management, a columnar event schema, and segment export to CDM tables.

Note:
The CDP and CDM integration is available only for tenants that are enabled with the CDM option.

Property management

You manage properties for the Event Dictionary, profile properties, and data source enrichment from the HCL CDP user interface. The property synchronizes automatically to the attribute and attribute_metadata tables.

For information about managing profile properties, see Profile Properties.

Data pipelines

You start profile pipelines from the HCL CDP user interface by selecting a source and a destination. When the pipelines run, HCL CDP writes profile data to CDM as follows.

Table 1. Profile data written to CDM
Data Written to
Customer profiles CDM profile table
Identity mappings CDM id_mapping table, directly, without intermediate MongoDB or Athena staging
Profile merge events Both the CDM id_mapping table, for unified Customer 360 profile resolution, and the Athena id_mapping table, for analytical and ad hoc queries

To create a pipeline:

  1. Go to Data Pipeline > Pipelines, and then click Create Pipeline.
  2. Select the source, for example DMPS SST Profile or an incoming event stream.
  3. Select the destination, for example CDM Profile Table or CDM ID Mapping.
  4. Associate the source and the destination to start automated ingestion.

Customer One View activity

To control which event properties appear on the Customer One View activity timeline, set the is_cov_activity flag when you define or edit an attribute in the attribute metadata interface:

  • True: The attribute appears on the activity timeline.
  • False: The attribute is removed from the activity timeline.

The database is updated automatically. No database scripts or file uploads are required. Customer One View activity reads from the event table joined with the id_mapping table.

Columnar event schema

Each event property is stored in a dedicated column of the event table. This structure improves query response times for Funnel, Path, and Customer One View analytics.

Batch segment export to CDM

Batch segments that you export from Segments > Batch Segments can be loaded directly into the CDM batch_segment_export_table table. The audience is available to CDM campaigns immediately, without Amazon S3 file staging.

Your administrator sets the export destination in the tenant configuration.
