Installing a non-English version of Notes®
Notes® is available for install and upgrade in multiple languages.
Using the Native Language (NL) packs (Mac OS)
When you install Notes® on the Mac OS platform, language kits are available for your use. These kits are typically referred to as native language (NL) packs.

Use this documentation to install the HCL Domino® server and subsequently deploy the HCL Notes®client.

    You don't have to rely on third-party products to automate deployment of new versions and updates of HCL Notes® or HCL Client Application Access (HCAA). Instead, you can enable Auto Update (AUT) servers to deploy updates automatically.

The tool is available for Notes on supported Windows™ platforms only, and must be run by an administrator.

      The non-English language dictionaries are supplied in MUI packs and NL install kits. If you are using a MUI pack or NL install kit to install the language dictionaries, no additional action is needed.

    Optionally add new features, or remove installed features, by rerunning the Notes® installation executable within the same release.
  - Managing client plug-in deployment
    While you can customize your client installer to add new or remove supplied features and plug-ins when you install or upgrade your clients, you can also provision (install and automatically update) stand-alone or third party features and plug-ins to your existing Notes® or Lotus® Expeditor run-time using a combination of Domino® policy or Eclipse preferences, a widget resident in a widgets catalog on an HTTP or Domino server, and a Eclipse update site (with signed features and plugin .jar files) optionally resident in a centrally managed NSF-based update site.

    While it is not necessary to uninstall Notes® to upgrade to a new release, you should uninstall a Beta release before upgrading.

  Use this documentation to upgrade the existing Domino® server and subsequently upgrade the Notes® client to a new release. You can also upgrade additional clients such as Domino Administrator and Domino Designer clients and additional features and plug-ins such as the embedded HCL Sametime® client.

Using the Native Language (NL) packs (Mac OS)

When you install Notes® on the Mac OS platform, language kits are available for your use. These kits are typically referred to as native language (NL) packs.

About this task

The NL packs are provided in install kits specific to the language set you require. Install and usage instructions accompany the individual NL packs in the form of a readme file.

Use an NL pack to install one or multiple non-English languages. An NL pack provides the following functions.

Each language pack kit is self-contained and complete. You do not need to first install Notes® using an English-based install kit and then install an additional language pack. Instead, simply run the installation executable from the desired language kit to install Notes® in your language of choice. For example, when you install from the nl1a language kit, the program installs all the specified Notes® client resources available in the install kit, including the requested language resources.

Procedure

Obtain the NL kit and run the Notes® installation executable in that kit.
Respond to all prompts.

The NL pack installation program uses a locale panel on which you are prompted to select which language(s) to install from the group. When you run the installer using this language pack, you are prompted to select one or more languages.
You cannot install one language pack and then install another. For example, you cannot install nl1a and then install nl1b. If you want to install nl1b, you must first uninstall nl1a.
Click Finish when installation is complete.
